Tomato Lurgy - Help Please! :-(
« on: June 05, 2012, 08:29 »
I popped out to say good morning to my toms this morning and they have spots!
They seem to be mainly on the bottom leaves and look as though they may be some sort of fungal disease.
Any idea what they are and what I can do to get rid of them, I would be gutted if I lost my toms.  :(
These are the ones outside btw, the ones in the greenhouse are fine.
Any helpwould be greatly appreciated.

The old leaves go like that and drop off.
Probably the weather hasn't helped   ::)

it shouldn't be anything to worry about  ;)

It is coming up for magnesium deficiency time so get the epsom salts ready !

Yellow blotchy lower leaves is one of the signs.

Thanks Mum & 8doubles but never had it before.  Most of the leaves on a couple of my toms were covered in the spots. Do you think it would hurt to nip them off and give it a quick spray with some Disease Control just in case?

As 8doubles said give them a dose of Epsom salts about once a fortnight helps cures the magnesium deficiency completely. apply 1 tablespoon of Epsom salt granules around each transplant or spray (1 tbsp. per gallon) during transplanting and again following the first bloom and fruit set.

This happens to mine every year so I get my old hairdressing sissors out (any excuse) and snip off all the bottom leaves that are yellowing and mottled.  I also trim away lots of leaves later on when the plant is mature and the toms need the light

Thanks dave & Mrs M. Will give them some Epsoms tomorrow just in case but they don't appear to have any yellowing, just green leaves with lots of dark brown spots.
