Hi sid , it looks like it is linked to the wine making industry, rather than the gardener BUT that does mean that some time in the future it may be banned. The wine makers are huge and very rich so not for a long time me thinks.
quote :-

Following a decade-long review of active substances that farmers are allowed to use on their crops, the European Commission is set to ban those that don't meet its strict requirements for toxicology and environmental safety. EU member states will then have to decide which of the approved chemicals can be used within their own countries.
However, the process has thrown up an anomaly - several agents used in organic farming have made the cut, despite the fact that not all the necessary data were available. These include chemicals that are used to prevent mould, particularly in potatoes and grapes, and which are therefore essential in the production of organic wine. These fungicidal chemicals include several copper salts and Bordeaux mixture, a combination of copper sulfate and calcium hydroxide.

dont they just love to get complicated

I can find no mention of a ban, or of a project to ban it, on French Google.

According to the French Minister of Health and Safety, home-made insecticides such as soapy water, nettle tea, etc are banned from retail sale, but can still be used by a private individual.

This is starting to look good; anyone got a recipe for home-distilled raspberry brandy?  :tongue2:
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

Fill up a large vessel with cider.
Heat gently.
Collect the condensed liquid coming from outlet, tasting often.
When the condensate tastes watery, put out fire and bottle up product.

But I think you were looking for something more legal, like soaking
raspberries in vodka.       ::)

Would interest me if you found one.

Speak for yourself, Tode! Earlier this year one of my neighbour's was convinced my cayenne peppers growing in my back bedroom window were cannabis plants, so what have I got to lose by making raspberry poteen at home! (only kidding, I think!!  :nowink:)
