blight and bordeaux mixture
« on: July 24, 2012, 22:51 »
I am pretty sure that we have blight on the tomatoes. >:(

We have disposed of the worst plants, removed suspect looking leaves and sprayed with bordeaux mixture.

Will this do any good or do you think we are better off culling the lot?

All that work and nurturing, what a .........er :(

Keep an eye on them. Bordeaux mixture will only help prevent blight , it will not cure it.

I've just been doing that in the greenhouse 05:30  !  (before the heat of the day gets too much).  I've found St Maranz and my Black Russian particularly suseptible to blight.  All the former are in the bin and I suspect the latter may follow.   I may try the bordeaux mixture treatment.

Cheers,    Tony.
I may be growing OLD, but I refuse to grow UP !

Dont know what to use next year as bordeaux mixture is to be withdrawn from feb next year
This is the first age that has ever paid much attention to the future which is ironic since we may not have one !(Arthur c Clarke)

If it's your preferred weapon, buy stocks before the end of Feb next year, after which it will be withdrawn. You are allowed to store it and use it to the end of Feb 2015.
