New Across The Site / Late Sowing Seeds and Planting Out
« Last post by John on Today at 23:10 »
I get quite a few emails on the lines of ‘Is it too late to plant..?’ And when we’ve had a wet and cold start to the season the number of growers behind with things goes up. The thing is it depends on what the crop is, how it’s grown and what the weather is going to do.

Answering the question here

My wonderful speckled girl has advanced bumblefoot and I'm really hoping she can come through it (antibiotics early days). It has spread to her toe and she limps. Two vet visits this week already.
Thinking ahead - if I have to lose her I'll have just one left.  I'd like to find her a friend.  Is there a simple way to find a retired older girl?  Most breeders offer POL or chicks..

Any suggestions very welcome. xx

They are quite high in nitrogen so wouldn't be of best use for flowering / fruiting plants once they have reached that stage. Leafy plants will like it, including onions as well as brassicas.

I was tempted by a lamb burger as it was on offer ... it wasn't good, but the nice man from ocado has bought me some stoopidly large spuds for once. I foresee a proper oven cooked jacket spud in the very near future.  :tongue2:

Always thought influenza was a very nasty virus - spelling might have changed but still surely best avoided if at all possible.

New Across The Site / Catching Up in Good Weather

A scorching weekend (by North Wales standards) which helped me catch up on some jobs although there’s still lots to do. At this time of year we’re running to stand still! Nearly lost the strawberries due to them drying out but they survived.
