My French beans are not to well
« on: August 09, 2011, 18:34 »
Hi,  I need help identifying what's happening to my climbing French beans.  The lower leaves on some of the plants have turned yellow, wilted and fallen off. There are brown patches on some of them too. I have pulled one plant up alreadybut the others seem to be infected already.  I have checked some books and the net and thought maybe it was Halo blight from the seeds but have ruled that out, it's not the wind either as I have grew them in the same spot last year ( I should have known better, slapped wrist  ) . Watering and feeding with comfrey, sprayed with sea weed, they should be healthy enough!  I love eating French beans, so any suggestions greatly appreciated  :)

They are just old I think..

Take them off and all should be well  :) :)

Hmmmm, could be, but the whole plant is gradually turning yellow from bottom to top.   Thanks.

Is the bottom of the stem OK?  Mine were looking similar - found they'd been attacked - probably by the same beastie that ate the leaves off every single one of my dwarf beans.

However that was a few weeks ago and most of them have regrown and are fruiting.

Lotty holder since Aug 09... I've FINALLY finished clearing it! On with the p.lanting  ....
