Is it too late to.....
« on: August 09, 2011, 22:03 »
I checked the sowing charts (both on the packet - and on this site) and it appears I missed the boat but was wondering if it is too late to plant some more root veg or cabbages for winter?

After harvesting spuds and onions I am left with space and I don't really want to fill it with salad as we barely eat it and most of it goes to treat the rabbits :)

I was thinking of planting anything that will see us in nice veg for the winter...

I sowed some turnips today :)
You might still get some winter cabbage plants for a DIY store or garden centre,  too late for other roots, I think :(

Thanks, I guessed as much but hoped someone had a nifty trick to get past it :) perhaps I'd be better to plant a green manure on them then?

Too late for winter cabbage, but you could start some spring cabbage.

Raise them in modules at home, pot on into 3" pots. They'll be ready in a few weeks.

Don't try bringing them on in a greenhouse, outside is more than adequate.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
