My neighbour just gets a big bag from the supermarket and rakes it in roughly from April - keeps it well-watered - she gets massive crops.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

Last year I sprinkled coriander seed into a deep pot on my south facing patio in April, covered it with a sheet of plastic and it germinated quite quickly.  It produced a good crop all summer and then I let it run to seed.

It seems to have survived the snow earlier in the year and has started sprouting again  :)

I have sprinkled a few more seeds in and covered with new compost and am hoping for lots of pickings this summer.

We cook lots of curries and indian dishes and it was great to always have a fresh supply.

Here's a pic taken today.

Its must be me.

Pot on Desk - Nothing
Pot on Windows cill - 1 weedy looking seedling
Pot in Propagator - Nothing
Row in the greenhouse - all(ish) sprouted.

The soil in the greenhouse is the worst you have every seen - its basically sharp sand with big pebbles in  its by the door so its cold and gets damp. Not to mention the ants.

Im confused....

obviously 'treat em mean and keep em keen' works for you :D

Sounds like they need good drainage, maybe that's the answer?

I grew coriander last year outside  the back door in a large planter come seat. I saved a load of seed to sow this year, but some seeds had already fallen into the soil, on close inspection they are sprouting already this year, no heat no protection no crushing soaking or nothing! Just growing away quite happily on there own, no intervention from me at all!

You are not the only one! I have four pots of basil sprouting nicely, lettuce coming up today followed by (finally) some tiny little sproutings on the beans I sowed ten days ago. NOTHING on the coriander at all and it was right next to the basil which came up first. If it doesn't come up, I am not going to waste any more time, I will plant something else!

Treat it mean is definitely the way to go.

I nurtured some high maintenance/low reward coriander that went to seed really quickly last year. This morning I've just found those seeds are now out there sprouting all by themselves with no special treatment  :D

i sowed some direct into raised bed over a month ago (optimistically).  Just noticed a long line of germinating seedlings  8)  I think they just need some warm, moist soil and bit of time.

All mine have come up albeit they look a bit leggy, but I am leaving them to see what happens - the fact that they came up at all is a miracle so I am not "messing"!
