Hello all,

this is just a heads up about chicken wire.  On this forum the advice is to use weldmesh rather than chicken wire. 

My aunt had some quail in a separate coop and run within the chicken enclosure.  The run was covered with two layers of chicken wire and up to yesterday had kept the quail safe. 
Yesterday morning a fox gnawed through both layers of chicken wire and killed all the quail.   Fortunately all the hens were shut up safely in their coop.

It was awful for her and I would not like to see it happen to anyone else.  I just wanted to reinforce the advice about using weldmesh rather than chicken wire from personal experience.  Foxes definitely can chew through it even if you have more than one layer.

Sadly chicken wire is just for keeping chickens in but not foxes out.

It's a big missnoma - chicken wire - as Joyfull says it will keep chicken in but not safe.  It was first invented to put onto thatched roofs.  Not many foxes on cottage roofs
