Would you believe it I am having more problems with my standard rcom. Started it up yesterday and it says theres no water in it.  so dismantled all the bits I can see but can't find any rods like yours in the photo where are they hiding?  Maybe I have the same problem I need to check it out.  I would definitely try to get a total replacement you seem to have one problem after another.  Mine is definitely going back after this hatch it needs looking at so this will be my last hatch for awhile.
