Grafted aubergines
« on: August 19, 2020, 22:48 »
Although this is our first year with an allotment, for a good few decades, we have managed to clear it and get a good crop from it, even though we did not get it until the end of February. Apart from growing the usual selection of vegetables, we bought a selection pack of seeds, from Aldi, that included aubergines, something we have not grown before. To our delight, these are now producing fruit.

We are now aware that it is possible to buy grafted aubergine plants, that produce fruiting plants much earlier in the season. For me, the fun is in growing and propagating my own plants, so I was wondering if there is anywhere I can (A) buy seed for aubergine rootstock so I can have a go at grafting my own, and (B) find some information on their classifications/characteristics.

Ralph.
