« on: May 10, 2012, 21:40 »
Evening everyone,

My grafted Tom plant that I bought from b and q was looking ok but has started to look droopy and the leaves look a little pail. I stuck my finger down and it felt moist but I have deffo not overwatered I've been ver careful this year and if anything would have been on the underwater side maybe?

Where have you got it?

How big are the pot & the plant?

How have you been watering?
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Pic here

It's kept in the washroom area, back porch I suppose.

I have just watered it from the top when it's been on the dry side and then just a top up. It's in a good size pot and it's got it's first truss but it's been like that for a while no flowers poking through yet

hi poolman, i think its because its on your windowsill, i noticed that your windows are single glazed, so even though they may be warm in the day - it will be quite cold a night!

Hmm I could maybe move inside the house at night and move back in there first thing maybe? Or even outside on warm days?

Would you give any feed, I ready that only when the first fruit has set?

yes only feed once the first truss has set - there is no need to feed it now! - if i where you i would move it away from the windows at night and move them back in the mornin ;)

Will give that a whirl and see how it goes. Would you stick out if the temps seem ok for the day? Where should I actually let this finish off so to speak as I don't have a greenhouse

sorry for the late reply - erm if its a mild/warm day they will be fine to go outside (but just for the day - remeber to bring tem in at night). Regarding where your going to put it - that may depend on the variety - do you know the variety?

Evening again, it's a beefsteak Tom "belriccio", says it grows well outside but it also seems they would stick an elephants pink on it if it sold it for them, just fancied giving them a whirl

yep ive just done a little research on them (little being the operative word, as it was hard to find anything out about them :( ) anyway - your right in thinking that they are an outdoor tom ;)

So outdoor in the pot it's in? Its looking a decent size now so just need to hang on for those temps. Have started to bring it really indoors now on the evening.

Thanks for the help with it, hopefully it will perk back up but still looking sad at the mo

yeh i would say its fine in that pot - it will be fine to go outside once the risk of frost has past, if i where you i would start to harden it off now (put it outside on warm days and bring it in at night :))

It's been out the last couple of days and in the house on a night. I think it's starting to look a tad better.

Had a couple of days of good sun :)
