A few years ago I used to be able to buy a 25 kg bag of lime for £5. Now it's £16 or more. Maybe £12 if you're lucky.

How did that happen?

Limited availability to gardeners, because farmers are using more lime.
using more lime means they can use less fertiliser, which have also risen a lot in price, because they use a lot of energy to produce.

 i gather your talking about white lime I haven't bought any lime for some time now but it looks like I mite need to buy some this season  I haven't seen many farmers using lime round here only brown lime spread by contractors but its like most things what you buy for your gardening needs these days are  all subject to price rises
