can onions be stored in hessian sacks like spuds

Cant see why not,i store mine in a sack that is made from a type of netting fabric.Just make sure they are dryed out properly and check them for neck rot frequently.

Its not ideal - the more air you can get round them the better, but as others have said the key things are to dry throughly and check regularly

I used to do that but found the rot rate was quite high. Now I have them sitting in a single layer on a mesh-type box and stack the boxes on top of each other as there's a good space between the layers for circulation. They've lasted much longer this way in my cold cellar.

I string mine up once they are dry and keep them hanging in the shed. Last for months -- or until we've eaten them all, whichever comes sooner

Ok cheers, ive got a couple of those plastic trays so i will use them instead and leave the sacks for the spuds.
