I have been keeping hens for over three years now and we have lots of squirrels in the garden, there has never been a problem.  I wish I could say the same for the foxes!

Grey squirrels are known to eat eggs and chicks but it is more likely the hens will eat the squirrel if it gets too close. :)

Agree with 8doubles. Would need to exclude the squirrels if you ever decided to hatch or have chicks :)

How about feeding the squirrels to the foxes?
It might kill two 'birds' with one stone!!

Squirrels - beware an angry chicken!
My girls have a thing about blackbirds - they hate them and chase after then making a right old racket, they stand no chance. The phrase 'hen pecked' has meaning! :D

I can remember an uncle who was "hen-pecked". We lived in a fairly big 4-story house - three families one house. My dad had most of the garden for free-range chickens.

My uncle was often seen attempting to hang out his family's washing with a yard-broom in one hand. He had roughly moved one of the chooks with his foot when it was still quite small. Later, when it had grown into a magnificent green and brown tailed cockerel, it took its revenge every time dear old uncle Ern set foot in the garden...

It always amused me as a 5 year old watching uncle retreat chased by the chicken!!
