Just discovered the resident squirrel sitting on the treadle feeder helping himself ::)  Have given up trying to squirrel proof all the bird feeders so he could find food , why would he prefer layers :mad: As my girls free range it's difficult to confine the feeder. Could I restrict access to the girls as they free range or is that not sensible, not that anyone's laying at the moment due to moulting  & broodiness ::) Bless !
Any ideas? No I don't have a gun  - yet!

You should be able to add some weight to the feeder lid so a squirrel is not heavy enough to operate it .

The squirrels will then probably turn up two at a time. :)

Ahh Banties ! That could tip the balance in favour of the squirrel .

Have just read that greys are 510 to 567 g so if you weigh your smallest girl ?

My tiniest bantam was around 700g after being broody and she is tiny so you should be ok adding a small weight. 

If you then find the squirrel jumping up and down on the treadle to get at the food make sure you video it!   :lol:

My chickens police the garden so the squirrels get chased off before they can eat anything.  :)

Choose your squirrel wisely , i tried an old buck that was taunting me while i was  logging/pigeon shooting .........

I think the BFGs description of snozzcumber fits the flavour nicely !
