finally (after about 2 years) sorted out my compost heaps emptied one out and spread out the contents over various beds, then cut up all the sweetcorn stems and anything else that was large covered this with grass and shredded paper and topped off with some manure, it might take a while to rot down but thats not really a problem for me  :) re weeded several beds tided up my working area and then took 3 pumpkins home all still green and several small butter nut squash !!
some people are like slinkys......they're really good for nothing, but they still bring a smile to your face as you push them down the stairs!!

Finished organising the messy part of the plot into beds and paths.
Dug over, added a top dressing and covered one bed over with weed fabric.  (I hadn't noticed it being windy until I got a huge sheet of weed fabric out )I want to see if it is worth doing all the beds next year.
Sawed some stray branches off the apple trees.
Put some chippings on the floor of my cold frame, I read it is good for deterring slugs.

Not a sausage!

But....... I did get my dad to shell all the saved French Bean seed and he enjoyed doing it so, with luck, we'll give the sweet-peas a go tomorrow.

nothing for ages - waiting for a couple of dry enough days to get a bed sorted and garlic planted.

I just get soaked! :) I planted my new pinkcurrant bush that arrived this morning and a few primroses. I managed to cover a couple more paths with plastic and weed control fabric. Then I spent ages ferrying more woodchips up hill in the barrow to cover more paths. I got seven thickly mulched so went home soggy but happy :)

No you are right they don't. It must be very disheartening when so much time, effort and money goes into looking after an allotment. :(

My sympathies Nige, we were done about two weeks ago.  They took my decent wire cutters from the toolbox filled with Poundland cheap tools and a gallon of paraffin I was saving for my greenhouse heater.

Generally we are not allowed Bonfires but this year we have a new rule. We can burn rubbish on the same night as the Civic Bonfire If they can have a Bonfire then we can!
That's what I'm doing and tomorrow I'll be spreading all that Potash 8)

Acquired 4 bags of shetland pony manure ???
Asked what the difference was to ordinary horse manure, reply: "smaller!".  Walked into that one! :)
