What a bril day.......
Dug over three raised beds (6.5m long and 1.2m wide), after removing the last few courgette plants and two very old gooseberry bushes.
Started to clear old strawberry bed from previous plot holder.
Took down runner beans, saving seeds for next year, and over sized runners for podding to get the beans for stews and soups.
Put metal, stakes in for the Brussels and stood back to admire parsnips.
I have my own cement mixer and not afraid to use it!!

Paid the £25.00 for our allotment trip to Wisley on Thursday.

weeded around the base of my new pear tree, growmored it, covered it with fabric and wood chippings(the base of it that is).
planted some perennials instead of the nettles.
continued weeding my artificial grass paths. Boring...
The flood waters are receding.

The flood waters are receding.
Spoke too soon!
I went down to take some pics for my blog and the water is back again!  Nothing to be done except get depressed.

Didn't get to the plot, but started off some Wizard beans, broad beans and cauliflowers at home  :)

Oh dear! I am sorry, that must be very disheartening. I think I would use the coming months to try and improve the drainage if it were my plot - or build raised beds. I hope that your crops will be okay.

More digging, weeding, removing old strawberry plants. Still a way to go though.

Transplanted hellebore seedlings to individual 3 inch pots with plenty of added prelite.

Also turned the rotten wood over from some dismantled old raised beds. Trying to get it dry in time for bonfire night.

A very nice looking frame - well done you!  :)

I think I might try a munty again but in our veg garden at home where I can put the high side over the grass path to make picking easier.

I only went to pick some spinach but the wind had blown over the wigwam with the shelling beans on  :( So i had to strip the plants off and harvest the bean - 2 carrier bagfuls most still green and then put the poles away.

Now I'll have to shell and freeze them, rather than dry them.

Moved 3 crown of rhubarb into a big pot until new bed is ready. Dug over existing bed and manured.  Moved an 8x4 raised bed into place. Still need to fill it. Chatted to a fellow plotholder who has given up her plot today. She said I could have her potato bags (I use them for tomatoes in greenhouse at home), so after she left I emptied the compost out and got lots of red potatoes and white potatoes :)

Dug up the last three rows of spuds and took down the lady wigwam. Two hours of tidying then beds are closed till spring
All the way from my allotment in beautiful Derbyshire. I'm in year 3 of my allotment and wish I'd caught the bug years ago, things growing from strength to strength
