On the plot - took a rucksac full of lawn mowings down to put around my sweetcorn to keep the moisture in the soil and feed the sweetcorn as it breaks down, did some weeding and took weeds home for the rabbit.

At home - took the chilli pepper plants out of the upstairs window and put them on the sunny patio to blast blackfly off the plants with the hosepipe set on jet - they are really suffering so I hope this sunshine will pick them back up.

Dug up the rest of the King Edward potatoes, got a bucketful. Dug over the area and then planted some chard. Netted the raised bed with the patty pan squash and cucumber.

Decided to harvest the remaining 14 foot row of Rocket potatoes 50% of which were enormous and rotten!!.
Picked runner beans (Butler) and first of the dwarf beans (Tendergreen),a bunch of spring onions, beetroot and carrots many of which are split.
Retired but never short of a job.

Decided to dig out the remaining potatoes and soon became obvious that the majority of the potatoes were riddled with holes.  Dug the ground over and gave a top-dressing of Gromore and BFB ready for replanting the area with leeks tomorrow.
Weeded the rhubarb, strawberry beds and tidied the pumpkins / courgettes taking 4 round ones home.
Pulled Beetroot, French beans for dinner to tonight and rhubarb for crumble.
All in all a good day.
I have my own cement mixer and not afraid to use it!!

strimmed most of the unused part of my plot after a lovely plot neighbour helped me figure out how to turn my new strimmer on.

Had a chat with the secretary about the next door plot to mine which the tenant has done zero work on since getting it 4 months ago. He's going to send them a letter giving them two weeks to start sorting it out as the grass is currently at hip height. People who know the guy are certain he's not coming back and lots of them are coverting a few items on his plot lol.

Today I broke up some pallets to make some fencing and got shouted at by a chav who lives in the flats overlooking the site for making a noise. I reminded him (after he'd sworn at me) that the site was already there before his flat was and that 20 mins of hammering in the afternoon is hardly noise disturbance.

Some idiot is currently sneaking onto our site with some weedkiller and destroying people's veg. I wonder if it's him?

Harvested more broad beans - coo - they are usually well over by now! Gave my retirement bench a good clean with an old, well-used green pan scourer which removed all the grime off it and it looks so much better. A light sanding-over followed by lots of teak oil to be done on a dry day . Was going to mow the grass but - you've guessed it.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

Two hours on the plot this afternoon.  I tidied and fed the tomatoes in the GH, then started emptying the compost heap - but the weather was too warm for such activity!  I then fed the brassicas and sweetcorn with some nettle/comfrey feed and did some harvesting.

Totally mis-judged the weather and so didn't make it to the plot today. Made up for it by potting up pak choi seedlings and pickling Beetroot.

Spent a couple of hours trying to put together a raised bed, eventually needed OH's help to complete it. Then filled it with manure and topsoil.

Well done you  :D :D :D

Today I picked tayberries, cut all the nasty bits off the onion leaves, pruned tomatoes to make sure that there is good air circulation. Took me five hours  Third blight preventative spray.

Picked a few ripe tomatoes before I sprayed - Ferline, sungold and golden sunrise

Brought home three bunches of sweetpeas - two are for friends
