Strimmed the grass around the edge of my plot.
Earthed up 9 rows of potatoes, then planted out 6 Hispi cabbage plants and 4 Brussel Sprout  Evesham Special plants.
Weeded around the garlic and onions and leeks and dug in some chicken pellets. The onions and leeks don't seem to have put on much growth since I planted them.

Sat with a cup of coffee planning what I might do to the plot over next winter. Well you have to plan ahead :)

Potted up my chitted sweetcorn into paper pots.  Potted on the celeriac.  Removed the cauliflower seedlings from the cold frame.  Something has been eating them.

OH went up to the plot and did some digging and took some of our home made compost from the garden to add to the raised beds.   He tells me the Lady Christl potatoes are just showing through.

Fingers crossed for no frost tonight then!

I've hilled mine up today in case.

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Fed up with all the weeds which appear to be loving all the rain,   so spent a couple of hours weeding.   The plot is looking much tidier now!  :)

Had limited time today for my own work as we had a workparty day to dig up an repair blocked and broken underground drainage pipes.. All sorted now so hopefully the top end of the site will now drain itself when it rains again. Some of the plots were were under about 6" of water... only fit for rice!!

Earthed up me spuds, potted on aubergines and tracked down 6 slimy things that had thought my greenhouse was an all you can eat salad buffet

Much the same as you jrko  :)

Quick trip to plot to earth up spuds and chuck some fleece over them for good measure, potting on in the greenhouse and chucking some slug pellets around.  Don't like using them but this wet weather means I am under siege at the mo  ::)

Still to wet to do most things, so generally pottered.

Went down to Homebase and filled up a trolley with sharp sand and compost (on offer). Temporarily liberated the trolley to push it all down to our plot.

Prepared a bed to finally put my peas in, tinkered around in the new shed. Pushing the trolley back we came across an old office desk abandoned in a front garden. The owner was delighted when we offered to take it off his hands and save him a trip to the tip. So it's now tied to the trolley and will be off to it's home in our shed tomorrow, after which I promise to return said trolley to homebase and reclaim my £1.  :D

yesterday, I spent about half an hour weeding in the rain (unheard of for me) but actually with my waterproof jacket and hat on I didn't even notice the rain (but did start to get cold) then I earthed up all my spuds, all first earlies, which have finally all come up. peas also up but very slowly, although they now have some potato shoots coming up with them (darn) sowed some beetroot and some pak choi   :)
some people are like slinkys......they're really good for nothing, but they still bring a smile to your face as you push them down the stairs!!

Surprisingly productive day.  :)
First visit for cOuple weeks really due to weather and work.
Peeled back tarps over beds prepared while only to be greeted by couch grass growing back.
So weeding took prioritie.  ???
But afternoon was productive. Father in law helping out.
Whole bed of potatoes in not showing yet.
Lots of stuff planted out under cloches. Fingers crossed temp don't go to cold.

Our first year on plot so just hoping for some stuff back out ground.

Seedlings in conservatory and in laws going ok.
Leeks thriving.
Chillies no go at mo  :(
Butternut squash potted on
Giant pumpkins springing into life now :D
Giant sunflowers taking of  :)

So exciting getting stuff in ground and things coming on.

95% of a shed built  :D

forgot to take some steps so hoping the rain holds of so I can complete it tomorrow. Took suprisingly little time to do so hoping tomorrow wil be more productive. With the threat of frost I might hold off planting anything out this weekend.

Haven't been to the plot for the last two days due to work getting in the way. When we last visited we dragged the massive tarp off the soil at the end of the plot and moved it to cover the ground at the entrance by the shed, the ground that has been covered up was clear of weeds bar two but was covered in ants, they have now departed :) we have started to dig over the area that was covered by the tarp but can't dig all of it because some of it has puddles settled on it :(
I am hoping to get there on Monday but rain is forcast so I am not holding out much hope of getting anything done, its coming along though and now doesn't look like an abandoned plot anymore :) I must remember to take my camera next time :)

My evening trip to check the tatties are covered was stopped dead when I discovered my elderly parents had a very blocked main drain.

Here's hoping the frost holds off for another night.

2 weeks ago i went up and trimmed the border of my allotment as it has a steep edge and i kept falling down it!
Took me hours but it looks alot better. I put the grass cuttings in my compost heap.
Today we are going to strim the grass and make a wigwam for the peas and beans to grow up.
Checked my mushrooms and we have 3 good size ones fully grown and ready to eat :)
