Planted three comfrey roots, bocking 14 variety
All the way from my allotment in beautiful Derbyshire. I'm in year 3 of my allotment and wish I'd caught the bug years ago, things growing from strength to strength

I had a brilliant day on the plot (Friday).  :)

Third pull and the (very old) Howard rotovator chugged into life. All the lumps and bumps of soil now nicely raked and ready for planting. About 8 rod of lovely clean clear soil.

Site shop was open, so I managed to pay my association membership fee and get two keys to the toilets (very important with young children).

The 4 year old and I cleared 3 barrowloads of weeds, roots and stones, while husband and the 7 year old built 1 and a half raised beds.

Slowly slowly.

Sowed some parsnips into deep holes filled with compost and sowed radishes inbetween.

Finished preparing my raised seed bed ready for sowing tomorrow. Took my shiny new garden incinerator to the plot and burnt most of the fir tree and brambles someone had dumped on it. Then another plot holder asked if they could put some stuff in our incinerator and seconds later the place was filled with smoke. They'd dumped loads of wet weeds in it. Borrowed a strimmer and got rid of a lot of stuff. Gave my 14 year old helper a strict talking to about not going down there and using the incinerator when I'm not around. He's a bit of a firebug at the moment. Then caught him sat in the shed with my gas stove on because he was cold! Told him if he does that again he'll be forking out for the gas from now on.
Also cleaned the shed out and bought some canes ready to make supports tomorrow for my peas and beans.

Made up the pea frames and sowed about 300ish peas and watered them in, went home and sowed 2 types of cabbage, sprouts, kale, nasturiums and marigolds.

Went down to the plot on my own today to have proper good look. I think it's going to be even more work than I first anticipated and I've changed my plan already!

Put a load of rubbish in a big pile (not sure how we're going to get rid of that!), raked lots of dead grass into a big pile, marked out the kiddies area and a couple of beds and got one bed dug.

I think I need to rope in some volunteers!

Very busy today.Twas the day of the Allotment Party! Had helpers today some willing, some not so.
Started by moving some slabs on the new plot up to the path as a standing area for the sheds to front on to. Then when Mr S turned up moved 2 sheds from plot 72 A  to 73A, after they were emptied.Sheds refilled This will leave a larger area on plot 72A for the soft fruit next to the apple, pear & cherry trees.

Next they relaid part of the path up to the slabbed area lowering & straitening  it as they went.

Then on to putting the new paths through plot 73A 2 paths to divide the plot in to 5ft beds, same as 72A.

Then the plot was rotovated.
Slotted posts put on the front of the compost bins,& slats cut to fit.Meanwhile various areas were covered with weed suppressant membrane, water butts re installed. Leaf mold container dis assembled. New green Johanna compost bin assembled & put in place.

Various drinks drunk. Soup, flapjack, marmalade cake, cheese & bacon loaf eaten.

All in all a wonderful day.

Confession time though......................NO PHOTO'S TAKEN :tongue2:

A big thank you to all my helpers they all worked so hard  :D

hi all,one of the houses next to my lotty are having new tiles replaced so this morning i collected some of the old lats that were in great condition and set away building a pea frame :)  i was thinking about giving it a lick of paint but changed my mind and had a cup of tea instead ::)after my tea i worked the soil at the base of my frame and planted some peas(leo, steepy type) also erected my water pipe net tunnel to protect my cabbages and turnips from the wood pidgeons that are nesting at the back of my lotty, along with the magpies that are nesting about 9ft away in the same tree .later on in the afternoon(about 15 cups of tea laer lol)i watered my seedlings and swept me greenhouse out,il post some pics of my lotty when i find out how to upload em lol.
