:oops   In the spring we brought 7 strawberry plants which I put into the veg patch. Fantastic, they realy grew well giving out plenty of runners, which I encouraged. Late summer I split the plants up and got around 75 plants, some I replanted in the patch, some I potted up to give away in spring, but after such a hard frost this morning I am wondering if they need some sort of protection to see them through the winter. Dont get me wrong they look in good form, but it would be a shame to loose them after they have done so well. Any advice for a novice??

Yup, strawberries, rhubarb, raspberries and garlic are the 'old boots' of the garden. Very tough to kill regardless of frost or temperature.

Over the years i have grown all the usual veg, mainly by trial and error, but i have never bothered with strawberries before. Thanks for the advice on what must the most basic of questions, you have put my mind at ease. Once again thank you.    Steve.
