Can anyone help or advise?
we have had our 3 hens as week (age now 19 weeks) all seemed to be going well until yesterday when one of the hens started to act sleepy. she has been eating and going to the toilet as normal as far as i have seen. there has been some strange orange poo's in the house after a night's sleep but not sure whose they are.

Hello! the orange poop sounds like ceacal poop which a hen passes every 8-10 droppings as long as theres not loads its normal! hens should be alert and active, scratching around and interested in everthing, it does sound like a trip to the vets would be best as we can advise on different common things it could be but without any other symtoms to go by its safer to get a vet to look! I general at about 19wks she could be coming into lay and the first few eggs can be not quite perfect, such as soft shelled etc!  this does make them apear off colour for a few days but soon perk up once it is laid! coccidiosis can give this appearance but they tend to look  hunched up aswell! as ive said its hard to tell without other clues. she certainly doesnt sound right!

thanks for the reply.
Basically no other systems just sleepy during the day and not acting like the other two.
I'll leave it another day and see if she perks up.
This is all new and we are still learning!!
Also think i've read so much i'm looking for something to be wrong, though it might so best be prepared.
