Sleepy Chicken
« on: February 15, 2016, 13:22 »
I have a 4 year old white bantam leghorn who has recently become very aggressive with the other 2 barred wynadottes. She has always been the head of the gang and has previously shown aggression to one or other of them but recently it has got worse and she goes for both of them. The 2 wynadottes are laying but she isn't so not sure if this has an impact.

The leghorn has also become very sleepy and will spend most of the day sleeping in the greenhouse with her head under her wing - otherwise she looks OK and is eating and drinking. We have out pick me up in her water but it does not seem to be doing anything

Any thoughts as to what is causing the issue and are they related?

Thanks

Cannot help re cause but would suggest isolating her for a week or so, for two reasons; if she is ill better to have her separated although probably too late should it be something contagious; after a couple of weeks reintroducing her should put her to the bottom of the pecking order. Hope you get some more help.  :)
