My OH is in the process of building an even bigger run than we have already.  Its on a concrete base and we need some wire mesh for the sides.  We have bought some 1/2 by 1/2 19 guage mesh from ebay - is this fox proof please or is there something else we should get?

hi, im not sure but i think it has to be a lower number like 16?, but someone with better know how should be along to let you know...

19 gauge welded mesh is cited as fox-proof and is what most of us go for. 1/2 x 1/2 makes it rat-proof also. There is variability in quality but they shouldn't be able to bite through it. Make sure you fix it well to the timber framing and watch out for very sharp edges during and after cutting.

It can lacerate your hands and arms and also the chickens once in the run.
