Is there a problem with my beetroot?

Hi all,

Just been to check the sq ft garden and noticed my beetroot look like this below. to me they dont look healthy and look like something has got to them. Any advice will be great.

they might well have been nibbled but beetroot is usually bombproof so I wouldn't worry too much. Make regular sowings to ensure you have a goodly supply  :D It could be slugs grazing them off

the pic looks like a case of encapsulation,basically the seed has germinated and held on to the seed case.spray with water to moisten the seed case and things should be fine.
have you had a prolonged dry spell?.

Well its been warm over last few days but i have spray the bed with the hose most evenings. Should i just leave it alone and see what happens.

hand mist the seedlings to soften the seed case.then gently remove with your fingers.bob

no ,spraying a fine mist is totally different to drenching with a hose

Well gave the plot a water just a while ago. used the hose on fine mist setting as it has about 7 settings LOL and removed the items fine so many thanks for the help once again
