It is still early they may just be making roots first.

If you are really worried scrape a bit of stem near to ground level, if there is green under the layer of bark then they are alive.

Raspberries are very hard to kill, cuttings left on the ground surface after pruning have rooted for me in the past!

I have canes that I planted in mid to late December and only one of them is showing growth. I'm still expecting them to come through.

Keep watching them patiently..... there's loads of time for them to wake up and get growing.  ;)

I planted about 30 canes in November and they are just now starting to show little green buds.  My blackcurrants are further along with some leaves.

Stop looking and come back later!

You could try gently scratching the bark/skin from a very small part of the cane low down to see if there's any green underneath... not sure if this works with raspberries  ::)

Alternatively gently remove a little of the soil from around the base to see if there are any shoots forming.

But... best tip would be to wait. You will eventually know if they have made it... they will start shooting. If they haven't survived there's nothing you can do about it apart from replace them.

When we first put 10 canes in, 5 in one plot did nothing at all the first year. The 5 in the next plot took nicely.

The 5 that did a no show the first year we left in and fed and watered, in the second year 3 decided to come to life and 2 had kicked the bucket.

Unless otherwise stated it can be assumed ALL posts are by Pa Snip
