Here's hoping the New Year starts off kindly for everyone.
Smokey outside right now ;)
-
Dark at the moment. Not going to be warm. Nasty north wind on the forecast.
-
Very wet & dark at the moment, family coming round later for a meal so our granddaughter will brighten our day 😊
-
Drizzly and grey early start to the New Year.
Been driy but still grey and cloudy for most of the morning and 10c now.
Expect it will get colder later when the wind turns from SW to Northerly.
-
Foggy first thing, but now just grey and miserable. Thankfully it isn't as cold as yesterday.
-
After two frosty nights it's cold and damp with a brisk northerly wind.
-
A really cold night last night (3rd) but tonight seems a little warmer... still with a frost.
The day was glorious and ended with a lovely sunset not that the sun gave much heat during daylight hours.
Better than biting winds and rain.
-
Bracing. (That's your true northern understatement, you understand!)
Had to have a bath this evening just to warm up
-
I know just what "bracing" means Yorkie - a week on the north west coast of N. Ireland one winter years ago - flipping chilly. Beautiful but.....I was still shivering when we touched down at Gatwick and on the train home.
Here:
Where the sun don't shine we had lumps of ice this morning!
But it was milder and sunny during the day... right now a gentle rain so hopefully no overnight frosty bits.
-
Grey, misty and drizzly but at least it is milder than the last few days!
Was hoping for a clear sunny day for a nice walk, oh well ::)
-
Quite foggy here which has increased over the morning so can hardly see the next fields.
-
Very mild here today.... I wandered about outside without a coat, jacket or a jumper.
Not a lot of sunshine but temperatures in double figures - even the aviary shed maintained a min of 11C overnight.
Colder things to come I'm sure but no fog here Goosegirl.
-
Oh dear. My blow away greenhouse has lived up to it's name! The cover is who knows where!! Very strong gusts of wind, but quite mild here.
-
A rather strong north-easterly wind is currently blowing everything all over the place and the cat flap won't stay shut!
-
Lovely and sunny here at the moment, but with a very strong wind. I feel so sorry for those further north who don't have any power, and hope it is restored soon.
-
Unusually windy here with gusts up to 60mph this morning, so despite the sunshine the 'feels like' temperature is around minus 2-3C at times!
Good for green energy production though - THIS (http://www.gridwatch.templar.co.uk/) website gives you a breakdown of UK electricity generation, and currently (::)) wind power is producing more than either nuclear or coal fired power stations (although of course on very calm days it produces next to nothing.)
-
The cold hasn't arrived yet, still 11C, but the wind and black clouds have, after a bright morning.
It was quite nice in the greenhouse wrapping everything up against the coming cold weather. Fingers crossed everyone is ok.
-

Though not more than the Gas powered plants, which are also more responsive when we need a surge in power, as we will if the cold weather arrives as forecast.
A bit more wind and those wind turbines will be shut down again :(
It's about time someone had a viable plan for collecting energy from waves/tidal flows - much more reliable than wind, surely. Sorry rant over
-
Cold and windy with gale force gusts. Overnight low of 3C with much colder and snow forecast Thursday and Friday
-
Another not-bad-day here. Sunshine, little wind and warm enough to enjoy a trip to the local Nursery.
It was a comfortable 14C in the aviary shed.... if only my greenhouse got as much sun. Can't have it all. ::)

It sure is mumofstig! When you consider the length of our coast and the number of suitable locations we sure are wasting that energy. I may be wrong but I thought I'd heard that Swansea Bay in South Wales had a viable plan.
-
After a drizzly day of 7-8c, SSE wind 2-3mph.
Come early afternoon and the temp drops to 1.1c and its bewn snowing for a good few hours and has settled nicely.
Temp starting to warm up a little and light snow now.
Wind has picked up, now 20mph NW with a few 32mph gusts
-
In whatever direction I look, we are surrounded by snow-covered hills, fells and mountains but here to the west of Carlisle we are mercifully free of the stuff
-
A very wet & cold day here, turning to slushy rain on our way back from a shopping trip late afternoon. Now beginning to freeze on my way home after evening out, so goodness knows what it will be like tomorrow, black ice I shouldn't wonder
-

A person of the same opinion as me I think. Snow - looks lovely in pictures and Christmas cards but not so good on my door-step.
Here - wet, cold and snow flakes fell but fortunately the snow didn't settle. 1C but colder in the country-side overnight. A whopping 5 or 6C tomorrow.
A friend in Australia is jealous - it's baking there she says!
-
Rain, rain and more rain lol x
-
Down to 8C in the aviary this morning.... a fair bit cooler out.
Soggy but not raining - not a bad day.
The evenings are gradually getting lighter. :)
-
Dull, damp and dreary.
-
Tues: Beautiful sunshine but cold...
-
Tues: Beautiful sunshine but cold...
Same here with a forecast high of 2C Brrr!
-
mumofstig.... 2C. Wow that is chilly. I think it is a bit warmer here... just as well as our central heating packed up yesterday evening. Fortunately the hot water is working.
9C in the aviary and rising due to the heat of the sun.
Off to buy a portable electric fan heater. Don't you just love the winter. :nowink:
-
Dull, damp and dreary.
Same here
-
We have blue sky and sunshine, but its a bit bracing out there.
-
It's dried up a bit at last but looks cold, not that I've ventured out as yet
-
Murky. Ugh.
-
In hull, city of culture 2017 ::) it's overcast, damp but not actually that cold ???
-
It's cold here, -4.6C and white with frost, forecast is for temps to rise only to 2C, the same as yesterday Brrrr!
-
-5oC this morning here too ... Brrrrrrr
-
-5oC this morning here too ... Brrrrrrr
It's cold here, -4.6C and white with frost, forecast is for temps to rise only to 2C, the same as yesterday Brrrr!
We tend not to get extremes in weather due to the river Humber because of the vast amount of water flowing in and out each day.
It has been said that it's the sheer mass of the water that absorbes the exessive hot or cold from the air.
-
Blimey, you lot darn sarf have drawn the short straw this time - overnight low of +6 here, still about the same, very little wind, very little sun (nor any prospect of any for at least a few days. :()
-
Everything is covered in frost this morning. We have clear blue skies and it looks all very pretty sparkling away in the sunshine, but it is brrrrrrrrr
I had to scrape my car windows leaving work last night. It,was hovering around freezing already. I even had frost on the inside of the windscreen, which I felt was a bit uncalled for
-
Only had one or two slight air frosts so far this winter here - I can almost picture the slugs and snails hiding away all nice and cosy and dreaming of the succulent young leaves they'll be able to plunder from my garden when it warms up a bit. :nowink:
-
To coincide with our central heating packing up yesterday morning - The coldest night (and day) so far this winter.
Frost still sitting where the sun can't reach and the pond is covered with ice. Mrs Plots has headed north for a few days and the cat has escaped to the garage at the end of the garden (warmer in the sun!)
-
Good luck with getting it fixed Paul.
-
Good luck with getting it fixed Paul.
Thanks... Plumber arrived - problem with 3port motorised valve so now waiting to hear from the chap who does the electrics  The cat is back out again for a warm in the garage (It catches the sun & is double glazed).
Frost has cleared a little ready for the next lot.
How to feel warm? Go out for a while and then come back in again. :tongue2:
Keep warm everyone.
-
I'd be tempted to go out for the evening Paul.
Hope you get it all fixed soon :)
-
After a day of gorgeous sunshine another cold night out.... but to be expected as it's winter.
I'd be tempted to go out for the evening Paul.
Hope you get it all fixed soon :)
Thanks New shoot but we have some heat although need a new part fitted to the system - will have to wait.
Might visit the library tomorrow or go for a very slow stroll around the supermarket.
-
6c drizzly and damp. :(
-
Groundhog day: 7C, no wind, dull.
-
Groundhog day: freezing, blue sky and sunshine, but everything covered in a layer of thick frost
-
Misty, dank & grey again oh & cold
-
Another hard frost overnight and a max of 4C, the sun lured me out for a walk, but it felt very cold even so Brrrr
-
Groundhog day: 7C, no wind, dull.
7C Wow.... like the Costa del sol! (Not sure where that is or how to spell it but it sounds warm)
Reached only 6C here today but 16C in the aviary due to the sun's heat. Phew :)
I have lukewarm radiators (that's an improvement).....and spare-parts arriving tomorrow. 8)
-
6C again today but it looks like we're going to get some of the yellow stuff from the sky to warm us all.
Andy
-
A splendidly warm morning! 14C indoors when the cat woke me at 8am.
Outside - not so warm... frost but not so heavy as previous days.
Sunshine?
Oh yes!! :) Warmest place in the house is the front-porch but not sure I'll stand there to eat my breakfast.
Heating engineer due back this afternoon with 3 parts........ and a bill. Oh goody. ::)
-
Its saturday my day off and the sun is out :)its frosty so im in the garden digging the manure in,great to be out side fresh air and freedom wonderful!
-
Very chilly bright day today, even saw a ball of yellow in the sky, 2 new time in 2 weeks
-
It was lovely in the sun on Sunday.... but we have a heavy frost tonight.
Daffs are showing all over the place so it won't be that long before the first flash of spring yellow appears.
-
Everything was covered in a sheet of ice first thing, but now it is melting. Very grey and dank with that misty wet feel to the air.
-
Wet and misty here, but still milder than of late.
Forecast is for much colder tonight and for the next few days, so covers to go back on in the greenhouse later.
-
A very dreary day here. Foggy, damp and depressing >:(
-
5C, no wind, and wall to wall sunshine here. :)
Forecast to not get above freezing tomorrow, so better make the most of it.
-
JayG we had a day like that here recently... bright and all things bootiful. Lifted the spirits despite winter temperatures.
But... it has been mostly foggy. :(
-
0C and not expected to get to over 1C all day.
It's heavy cloud and the air has a damp feel to it. :(
Won't be popping to the plot after work today.
Andy
-
Beautiful, sunny, crisp morning. 0C with a stiff SE breeze. Just the job to keep you moving
-
Well it's white with frost here in hull, and a healthy -2c today.
-
It's grey, damp and above freezing so no frost today! :)
-
Whiteover frost today, don't think it will lift today
-
Last night was the coldest of the winter so far here - minus 3.7C.
Now quite misty and -2.5C but forecast to become warmer less cold later, and then relatively balmy over the next few days, although the price to be paid for that at this time of year always seems to be lots of cloud and some wet stuff too. ::)
-
The night before last was our coldest night and day of the year I think..... had the central heating on and the gas fire and I was still feeling cold all evening.
It was a peasant surprise stepping into my aviary bird-house shed as it felt lovely in there after walking out in the freezing cold chill of a breeze to get there. Lucky budgies - Cosy inside.
Tonight is definitely milder and during the days it was (felt) truly balmy by comparison with the previous few days. Wetter, windier and some sunshine in store for the next few days.
Keep warm all.... spring is not that far off :)
-
Its a bit grey and damp here, but frost free :D
The birds are singing away, the snowdrops are budding up ready to flower and I'm going to sow some sweet peas and dream of summer days full of flowers :D
-
Its a bit grey and damp here, but frost free :D
and I'm going to sow some sweet peas and dream of summer days full of flowers :D
Same weather here, I've moved some small hardy plants out of the greenhouse now, to make room for fresh sowings, and more sweet peas are now on my list. Thanks for the heads up :D
-
It's flipping freezing here - deep in frost. Looks as if it will continue overnight again tonight. If we see the sun it just looks nice rather than feeling nice.
-
Christine, It seems as if you now have the weather we had for the last week or 2.
Here, it's damp, cloudy, grey and miserable - but not too cold at 4C.
-
Milder, but still a bit nippy out. Its more dank and damp chill in the air though. No frozen hard glittering frost like we have been having.
Its not raining here yet, but the sky is very grey and it looks like it is going to start soon.
-
Sunny, very little wind and about 6C after a wet morning with a little snow on the West Cumbria coast
-
Jack Frost had his brushes at work last night, but now more rain........
-
A bit of sun first thing then lots more rain & still quite cold
-
A white frost first thing after an overnight low of -4C. Sun soon shifted it and now 8C and still sunny and calm. Birds all think Spring is here
-
Warmer and wetter. Loving the Warmer! :)
-
Warmer and wetter. Loving the Warmer! :)
but not loving the wetter........
-
Frequent showers, blustery SW wind and 7C but feels a lot colder due to wind chill and cloudy skies
-
Warmer and wetter. Loving the Warmer! :)
but not loving the wetter........
Here it's dark, dank, intermittent rain, 6C, breezy, but somehow managing to be quite misty too (nothing to even vaguely love on that list!)
-
Dull, dreary, overcast. Not actually raining at this minute but looks like we'll get more soon
-
Dull, dreary, overcast. Not actually raining at this minute but looks like we'll get more soon
Same sort of weather here, with some low cloud thrown in, rain has just stopped - but plenty more up there, by the looks of things.
-
Persisting down here, with grey skies and low light levels :(
-
Dull, dreary, overcast. Not actually raining at this minute but looks like we'll get more soon
Yes we got more rain but it has brightened up considerably, the sun even came out & we've got some blue in the sky( typical it brightened once I got started on jam making)🙄
-
Wednesday was lovely... the sun came out, the temperatures were up, the wind was barely noticeable and... the rain was negligible lasting only for a while in the early morning.
We wandered into town.... came home with a couple of needed packets of seeds, two lots of shallots, one lot of onions and a few other bits. A great day out and about.
-
Its very very windy and very wet a yukkie day :(
-
Very wet here too, not so windy just yet.
-
Not the best of mornings in the sunny south but we did have a sunny, rain free spell for a few hours.
One quick shower so far since 4pm but pretty warm for 2nd Feb.
-
Very mild at 13C, calm, part cloudy and all the birds in the wood think it's Spring already
-
Very mild at 13C, calm, part cloudy and all the birds in the wood think it's Spring already
Let's hope we don't get the usual March dip (in temperatures) that we often have in many parts.
-
Cold spell forecast for next few days, may remind them it's too early yet ::)
Grey, damp and 6C but no wind - the storm missed us completely.
-
We got lots of rain yesterday afternoon and evening and it was a bit blowy, but the storm passed us by.
Its sunshine here today and our birds are all singing like crazy as well.
-
The sun has just arrived here - a quick walk to the plot seems on the cards ;)
-
after a calm, mainly sunny day with a max of 6C, I think we're in for a frosty night
-
No sign of any storm here... cycled with the trailer for a week's groceries. Pretty warm and pleasant out.
(Reached 23C in the aviary shed. I might put some early seeds in there... shame my greenhouse doesn't get as much sun at this time of year).
-
-1c this morning and foggy. :(
-
A sun filled glorious day today, pity that we'd had such heavy rain yesterday evening & overnight, too wet to do much outside
-
A sun filled glorious day today, pity that we'd had such heavy rain yesterday evening & overnight, too wet to do much outside
Beautiful here too... really warm & sunny.
BUT.... down to 2C tonight the forecast says
-
It's snowing in shoe town.
-
Bitterly cold air here with a few snow flurries, but when the clouds break, just look at the moon!
-
It's spitting with snow - forecast is for 2 or 3cm tonight. We'll see
-
Very chilly here out tonight. I thought I could hear something (rain / sleet) on the conservatory roof but didn't open the blinds to check. (The rabbit is snoozing in there in his indoor cage covered with blankets and stuffed with meadow hay...and with a fan heater set on low!!)
-
All week ive looked forward to getting in the garden this weekend.... an its snowing!!!!
-
ITs the weekend and its raining very cold and windy :mad:i won't be in the veg plot today >:(
-
A light covering of snow here this morning - just as forecast!
-
Here in shoe town it's that rain that is cold and gets down your neck and makes you miserable . But it won't beat me.
-
We've got snow and snizzle (snowy drizzle) on and off, but its damp underfoot so it is all melting away to nothing. Its not warm by any stretch, but we have been spared the biting easterly winds we were promised :)
-
Cold, cloudy with a biting easterly. Spent a fruitful hour digging over the beds in the comparative warmth of the polytunnel
-
Far windier than expected but a blue sky and some sunshine.
-
Far windier than expected but a blue sky and some sunshine.
Quite a breeze here too but the sun is out and the temperatures up - makes for a brighter and more cheerful day!
Roll on spring. :)
-
Today topped up tomato seedlings, sowed some broad beans and now I'm chilling in the sunroom @23dg.reading a book and the odd snooze. The sun is out but low.
Milk it while you can I say.
-
Lovely & Sunny all day but still cold. Still too wet after all the rain to go & play outside
-
We had the sun as well, but a cold wind on the allotments. I made sure my back didn't get cold!
In the garden, out of the wind, it got up to 13C - lovely
-
Back to the grey chill today.... hard after yesterday's sun and warmth.
(Hiding indoors... but still feeling cold....)
-
11C today and no cold wind here :) It was grey first thing but brightened up mid-morning for a plot visit 8)
Turned grey again a little while ago, so I came home again for a cuppa and something to eat.
-
Warmer.... quieter....hardly a breeze so hoping for a good day ahead.
We had the rain yesterday so today should be drier if the forecast is about right.
-
Dry today, a lot warmer, enough to have the kitchen door open a bit whilst I was jamming 😊
-
Just got in from work and the temperature in the last hour has dropped considerably as the sea mist has rolled in. Looking forward to this 'supposed' heat wave this weekend so we can go outside and play.
-
A great day Saturday - windows & doors open for much of the day..... then a very thick mist overnight.
Not bad today but less sun.
Warmer!! :)
-
14C here (wasn't sure my weather station was still capable of registering temperatures in double figures any more!)
Very windy though, and although it's bright now there are some showers forecast, but hey ho, still better than the boring, cold grey stuff we've had a lot of recently.
-
Bit grey, bit damp, bit of a breeze but not cold. Usually I would be quite happy with that for February, but I was spoilt by the lovely weekend weather and it feels like a bit of a let down ::)
-
I thought the forecast for here today was rain so didn't do the washing but it's nice & Sunny with cloud & quite warm. No time now for gardening as I'd got granddaughters birthday cake to make & ice for later this afternoon.
-
its very early been out with the dogs and its raining i bet its in for the day, never mind its a work day :(
-
8C, clear blue sky, but very windy at the moment (local weather station reports a gust of 55mph a few hours ago.)
Tomorrow is forecast to be even windier, not to mention much wetter.
-
Very breezy here as well, but grey and damp :(
-
Grey and 12C here, but really doesn't feel like it with the cold wind ::)
Have opted for greenhouse gardening today ;)
-
Started out rather windy then it dropped a bit but now - oh don't ask! Monsoon rains, winds coming at us from all angles, sun just peeked out but not a day for gardening. :( :( :(
-
Vary windy, been up to the allotment to make sure nothing's blown away
Also heavy showers at times, usually just as I go out!
-
The wind is terrible, im not looking forward to seeing how my new polytunnel has held up :(
-
Wind started just before 5am.... dustbin lid rattling - got up - secured it.
8am = trip to the vets with the rabbit - too windy for cycle trailer - walked
3pm - still very blustery but blue sky for a while
Shopping - delayed till tomorrow.
Stay safe.
-
Phew - being so exposed on the coast we were very lucky not to have our home flying in the air just like Dorothy's in the Wizard of Oz, but the only thing that has been damaged is my raspberry frame that was already leaning at a slight angle and can be easily sorted.
-
It's bright and 6C, but feels really chilly in the strong NW breeze Brr
-
Thursdays wind lots of damage :(tiles off the house water coming in the loft then dripping on the landing, about 40 tiles off one shed and a missing sky light, that may be in the next county?,roof on another shed lifted and smashed the side wall, but its still up.
The veg cage folded like a pack of cards, but the Rhino green house stood up to all of it :).
-
Storm Ewan now raging. Sky black as your hat, mild at about 11C, intermittent heavy showers and gale-force SW wind
-

Commiserations on the damage, hope you are soon watertight again
-
Its very windy and wet again :(non of the damage fixed yet,we shall just have to keep waiting >:(as we rent the house we are on the waiting list with everyone else :(
-
Bright and sunny, 7C but feels much colder in the so called 'strong breeze'.
spell correct!
-
Bright and sunny, 7C but feels much colder in the so called 'strong breeze'.
Same here. Sun is out, but the wind is pretty gusty and making it feel cold.
spell correct!
-
Grim :nowink:
-
In my part of Kent its cold and sunny and I'm stuck at work. You can guarantee that when I leave about 2ish the sun will go and take my enthusiasm for an hour at the allotment with it.
-
Only 5C, and just starting to spit with rain - looks like we're in for a thoroughly wet day (not often the forecast predicts an 80%+ probability of rain continuously from around midday through to beyond midnight! :()
-
7C - but feels colder 'cos it is grey, drizzly and miserable :(
-
Same here. :( Really need some bright sun to open up all my lovely crocuses that are growing amidst my Hellebores so I can take a pic. Doesn't seem likely in the next few days.
-
Don't think it's stopped raining all day
-
Well its sunday day off i step outside and it starts raining :mad:looks like its in for the day
-
Quite pleasant, not too cold and a little bit of sun.
-
cold, windy and heavy showers.
snow on the tops
-
Cold, dark, dank, miserable & for variation deluges of rain now & again but mostly now
-
Clear blue sky at 0700, since 1100 same as Snowdrops reports - yuk. :(
-
Blue sky and sunshine this morning :D I have work later, but the greenhouse is calling. There is time to play with a few seeds :D
-
It looks like March out there, as it should :D - bright and breezy.
-
Thursday was gorgeous - sunshine and blue sky all day long.
Cycled the rabbit to the vet in the trailer (a fortnightly trip) - enjoyed seeing gardens full of spring colour. Then toddled over the road to weed a flower-bed, feed the budgies and wander around the veg patch.
Still can't believe my purple sprouting isn't. So late this year!
-
Piddling down!
-
such strong wind.
-
Grey and windy here as well, but colder and windier to come this week :(
-
It was 3c when i set off this morning so the coldest it's been for a while, it's been bottoming at about 6c to 7c on average through the night but taken a dive for the next week or so according to BBC.
Might hold off planting the spuddys for another week or so!
-
1.8 degrees C and gorgeous sunshine. Better than yesterday, it chucked it down until mid-afternoon.
-
Crazy spring morning ....
Bright sunshine 8)
Bitter wind :(
Few minutes later ....
Few snowflakes followed by hailstones the size of peas :(
Needless to say ... Now bright sunshine again ::)
-
Clear blue skies at 6am, but bitter wind couldn't see for the sun while digging, thought it was blossom blowing about turned out its snowflakes and not a cloud in sight.
-

Just south of you and it's been the same here.
-
Bright blue sky but rather cold this morning, went out to the car and it had a light layer of frost on it and the thermometer in it was reading 2c.
It's forecast to be sunny all day today with a light 10mph wind.
-
Obviously been a bit of a frost here this morning, cold when I went to the greenhouse, but the sun was on it and hardly a cloud, lovely and warm in greenhouse and warming up outside as well. Forecast similar for the next seven days, with nighttime temperatures better as well as daytime ....... ....... is it here at last ;)
-
So it is BC, so it is! Just a chilly wind to contend with but tomorrow is going to be warmer!
-
The weekend looks fantastic, the sun is out,i will be out side all day in the garden :)
-
It looks gorgeous out there 8) but we have a cold North East wind spoiling things.
Garden is a bit more sheltered but the plots won't be nice today - so guess where I'll be
-
Yesterday was gorgeously warm and today is much the same. Brilliant for drying out the wet ground yet it's damp enough to hoick long-rooted weeds out.
-
It looks gorgeous out there 8) but we have a cold North East wind spoiling things.
The wind isn't as strong today, so a lot nicer :)
-
The wind has dropped - the sun about - warming up nicely...
........and the first of my purple sprouting has arrived after weeks of waiting :)
-
I woke up to thick fog this morning, didn't see that on the forecasts ::) but at least that means those nagging cold winds have dropped.
It does seem to be lifting a bit, looking forward to time on the plot today, if/when it does ;)
-
its been beautiful today! really warm with little breeze, eventually we have enjoyed the weather that the north has been getting the last few days. I was getting fed up with hearing how lovely the forecast was....it may have been sunny but it was accompanied with cold wind and not pleasant at all.
-
After a misty start it's lovely and sunny with a light breeze.
-
Sunny again, but a bitter cold wind - lovely in the greenhouse, but not nice outside :(
-
A very few spots of rain today and not so sunny or as warm as Tuesday but not bad.
-
Lovely and sunny but with a rather cool wind.
-
Mostly cloudy with the odd bit of hazy sunshine, 10C with only a light breeze - so not as nice as the weekend, but not too bad either.
-
Lovely and sunny but with a rather cool wind.
Same here to the north of you
-
Mostly cloudy with the odd bit of hazy sunshine, 10C with only a light breeze - so not as nice as the weekend, but not too bad either.
Much the same here... overcast, feels damp (but the washing is drying).... a bit warmer than 10C I think.
Back to the gardening after a cuppa.
-
Had a lovely long weekend down in Hastings helping to celebrate my Mum's 90th birthday (which is actually today - she obviously thinks she's the Queen!)
That was warm and sunny apart from a bit of morning mist - now back in Sheffield it's dull but mild (14C)
-
Pleased to hear the south coast treated you well JayG.... and great to hear your mum had a good day for her birthday celebrations.
The weather: Today (the 5th) was bootiful. Sunshine all the way from early morning onwards and a mild evening too... the cat thought so - wouldn't come in until 11:30pm!
-
Started with a frost here this morning, but making up for it now 8)
-
Thick mist until gone 7am but warm sunshine followed through the rest of the day.
-
We had summer weather yesterday :D Blue sky and warm sunshine and it looks like the same again today.
I'm off outside to make the most of it :)
-
Beautiful and low 20s today, ten degrees cooler forecast for tomorrow!
-
Yes, beautiful day today 8) it was lovely in the garden until next door lit a barbecue, and smoke wafted over
-
Yes, beautiful day today 8) it was lovely in the garden until next door lit a barbecue, and smoke wafted over
Lovely day here too with the added bonus of no barbecue :)
Father-in-law's birthday so family visited for dinner - roast pork and home grown purple sprouting :) as well as time for the veg plot over the road.
Purfeck.
-
lovely warm morning but wind picked up about 3 .00 and it went quite cool
-
Bright sunshine but nowhere near as warm as it was on Sunday..... Fine in the sun, cool in the shade.
Rain? Can't remember seeing or hearing that for quite some time.
-
A cool, breezy 10C, mostly dull - more than once it's looked as if it's going to rain, but I'm beginning to think it's forgotten how. :nowink:
-
Its cold slight breeze, but it is dry at the moment, disappointing but the usual holiday weather :(
-
The clouds keep darkening, but so far no rain :(
-
Bright with a strong westerly breeze, temperature 7C with a 'feels like' of 0.2C according to my local weather station (not tried it myself and in no hurry to do so!)
-
No weather since the 15th ::) :D
9C and sunny 8) but breezy here.
1.6C in the greenhouse overnight, though Brrr.
-
On holiday in Tebay, Cumbria, had lovely sunshine but windy in Morecombe today, but decidedly chilly, showers on travelling. Last hour we have had snow showers that have settled on the hillside opposite our holiday house
-
Yes, we are 35 miles north of Snowdrop and the weather is quite similar here. Beautifully sunny day, max temp this afternoon was 9C, down to 4C now with a frost expected overnight. Had a brief snow flurry but nothing much. Plants in polytunnel and greenhouse all fleeced up in readiness
-
One word for the weather: "Dry"
The rain that was forecast for Monday afternoon did not appear.
-
Minus 1.4 overnight, that's the coldest we have had in months. Fingers xd its not too damaging!
-
No frost some rain over night, very cold wind ,glad i have not put any soft young plants out yet.
-
Minus 2 here this morning, some showers yesterday
-
Wow .... hard frost here overnight, covered everything in heavy fleece, one or two darker leaves on the potatoes but that's all :)
Surprising the difference any protection makes, the raised veg bed, the plants were covered with fleece, which as stated, worked well. But the whole bed is covered with netting to keep the pheasants out, the bits outside the netting were crusty and had frost on them, the area covered by netting was frost free, the fleece covered area even better.
Surprising to see that just netting affords a little protection as well ;)
-
Although it looks lovely out there, the wind is a biting cold Northwesterly and it's only risen to 5C, so far
1.8C was the overnight low.
-
From 15.5c all afternoon yesterday and 14.9c at 6pm, it fell to 10c at 9pm, 8c at midnight, 3c at 4am and 2c at 5.30am
Now 7.8c
No frost here and still no rain.
-
-0.8C here last night - was woken up this morning by the unusual sound of the early leavers scraping the remains of yesterday's light snow shower off their cars.
Only the 3rd time this winter we've had an air frost here.
Clear blue skies and +4C at the moment, but the rain radar map is currently showing quite a collection of shower clouds heading straight down the country. Hopefully at least one of them has got Sheffield's name on it!
-
Cor JayG that's flipping cold. Yuck.
I know it fell as low as 30C in parts down souf and that was cold for us at this time of year. It was a little warmer along the costal strip but still chilly overnight... down to 5 I think.
Snow! Scraping scrapers? Just about unheard of here in late April (partly because I am no longer a "leaver" and also because it takes more than a little scraping to wake me once I eventually sleep).
Here we continue with the Sahara effect (dry) and complete with the over-night version (blinking cold but not flipping freezing). ::)
-
Down to 2.5C last night, but today, unlike the last few days, it hasn't warmed up much since.
It is still only 4C and we still have that cold NW wind :(
The tomatoes will have to wait before they can go out in the greenhouse
-
Zero degrees this morning, several snow/sleet showers yesterday afternoon
Neighbours allotment had peas appearing above ground so hope they will be OK
-
We had a mad shower of snow, turning to slush and sleet yesterday afternoon. Then it just rained on and off until late evening.
Chilly overnight but no signs of frost. It is cold and breezy today.
-
Some people have all the excitement:
We had a mad shower of snow, turning to slush and sleet yesterday afternoon. Then it just rained on and off until late evening.
Chilly overnight but no signs of frost. It is cold and breezy today.
Here - very chilly, cold wind and about 20 medium sized spots of rain. Better than none  he says looking on the bright side :)
-
RAIN :) About time too.
-
Proper rain here as well *Happy dance* and lowest temp was 8C :)
-
We had some rain early this morning, and it looks like possibly a bit more in the next hour or so. Not as much as is needed, but at least the grounds damp.
-
Lardman's rain front looked very promising as it headed northwards, but it fizzled away as it reached Sheffield and only managed to deliver a paltry 0.2mm in the end! :nowink:
-
We have had some proper steady rain overnight and on and off today. There are even puddles in the road.
Usually I would be scowling at the clouds if I had a day off and then got stopped from going to the plot, but its fine by me today :)
-
rain last evening and when rubbing my foot in the soil it was wet underneath.
heavy showers today. typical b/holiday but great to plant out in.
-
13 degrees and sunny this morning, very pleasant, rotovated my half plot this morning but soil still dry despite some rain over the last few days, more rain needed. Potatoes and onion showing through though
-

Two lots of very welcome rain here too.... The weeds should soon get growing - always a good sign ;)
-
Cold and wet. Not that I mind the wet😊😊
-
Raining on and off most of the day, so the cat is sulking (like me!)
The garden needed the rain though.
-
Looked like rain most of the day....but none arrived.
A cold / chill wind so the hedge-cutting planned for today was put on hold.
-
Still overcast and drizzly but at least that kept the temperature above 10, so didn't need to do the greenhouse hokey-cokey last night and this morning :)
Cat still sulking, though ::)
-
Still overcast and drizzly but at least that kept the temperature above 10, so didn't need to do the greenhouse hokey-cokey last night and this morning :)
Cat still sulking, though ::)
Same here but no drizzle...just grey & chilly winds.
Tender plants remained out overnight with exception of tomato plants, cubits and cumbers - they remain in 24/7
Still not tackled the hedges - fortunately other things to attend to so not feeling guilty about the delay.
-
We've had no decent rain for about three weeks and had a really drying wind from the East so watering like mad!
-
freezing cold
-
grey, cold in the strong wind
-
Mostly grey with a cold wind, the sun was out for about an hour mid-afternoon - lovely in the greenhouse then 8)
-
grey cold north easterly wind 7 degrees this morning had to fleece my poor courgettes ans sweetcorn
-
I brought everything tender in from the greenhouse because MetO forecast a low of 3C! It was in fact 7C ::)
Never mind better, safe than sorry.
Today 11C, cloudy and that horrid gusty wind from the North. Not nice at all - everything seems to have stopped growing after the early start. No bees seen for the last few days, hope they'll be ok.
-
My weather is just about identical to yours Mumofstig, looks like it could rain at any minute, but doesn't :(
-
Very similar here arh and Mum...
It was a bit brighter earlier (felt the sun's warmth for half-an-hour or so) but now low light cloud and that blessed NNE wind still wafting the washing.
Left beans in pots out, even planted out a very few climbing French beans (surrounded by plastic sheets to keep the wind off).... all ok as night time temperatures keeping up.... here's hoping for a drop in wind and break in cloud and then some overnight rain!
Could be worse ;) ..... may need to earth up the spuds again or plonk on some grass mowings if frost threatens (and can be taken seriously).
-
bright with a biting wind.
hope the wind will keep the frost off
-
Pleasant in the sun.... and that came in short waves.
Chilly this evening.
-
A little frost on the strawberry leaves this morning lucky only a couple of flowers opened up luckily and now blue skies 12 degrees
-
A little frost on the strawberry leaves this morning lucky only a couple of flowers opened up luckily and now blue skies 12 degrees
I've never covered or protected strawberry plants from frost..... Should I have done so?
They always seem as tough as old rope coping with the freeze through winter and scorching sun in summer. usually have good crops - no frost protection for flowers ever.
Rain tomorrow :)
-
Yes a late frost can spoil the flowers (the centres go black when that happens) but they usually just grow more :)
Back to weather.. overcast but that horrid wind has gone so it feels warm and humid (oh no! Not blight weather ) swiftly moving on, 8C overnight in the greenhouse :)
-
It's raining yippee 🌧🌧🌧🌧🌧🌧🌧
Cheers HH
-
After an early morning wind, it went still and humid and now the rain's come - deepjoy!
-
Rained yesterday - could really be called rain.
Rained a little today.... every little helps. :)
Now the weeds will begin to grow! ::)
-
This morning's band of rain only just clipped us here - 0.8mm! ::)
A narrow band of showers, which could have some heavy bursts mixed in, is showing up on the rain radar in the Leicester area, and it appears to be heading in this direction - fingers crossed.
Moi, rain obsessed?
-
Wet, warm and wonderful!
-
We have had a couple of showers but the soil is still bone dry immediately below the surface......
-
Weather superb today, rain nearly all day. still raining now.
-
Weather superb today, rain nearly all day. still raining now.
Sounds good to me!! :)
(At least none of us are complaining about flooding)
-
We had a very slight shower early yesterday morning and also early this morning, but nowhere near enough and the suns out again already.
-
Cloudy here and a bit chilly. Put my new rotovator together but will head to plot tom when supposed to be nice day here :)
-
It was cool, cloudy and windy this morning, but turned sunny and warm this afternoon. The wind has also dropped a bit too 8) So a lovely evening for all the neighbours lighting barbecues ::)
-
damp morning. bright afternoon. chilly wind.
-
Had some lovely steady rain yesterday and overnight and now the sun is out warming things up.
-
Piddling down. Ponies are happy, you can almost hear the grass growingagain
-
Breezy, mild - forecast and rain radar looked promising and it has been trying to rain but only had a measly 1.6mm so far.
-
Light rain when I got up and still falling now, with only a slight breeze 15C. Feels cool after yesterday's heat ::)
-
Lovely - mild and plenty of gentle rain today, You can almost hear the plants growing!
-
Been raining gently but steadily since about 1100 - we're near the edge of the rain band (NW and SE look to be out of it at the moment) but if we stay under it we could finish up with a sizeable total, because it appears to stretch all the way back to the Bay of Biscay.
Not quite regretting wishing for rain just yet...
-
Rain overnight but a sunny 25C 8) again today, with only a very light breeze ::)
Everything in the garden has put on a spurt after the recent showers. Hopefully still some more rain to come!
-
Non stop rain including overnight just varies in intensity. Some flooding on local roads. Gone from one extreme to another, not complaining though. Ground was seriously dry this should help restore water to the soil. Good news no need to water spuds (or anything else) 😊😊😊
Enjoy HH
-
Must admit, serious rain overnight, the stand-alone barrel is just over half-full. :), dry since 0800, but promised some more for tonight, here's hoping.
-
We had rain overnight and all day so far. It got quite heavy around lunchtime, but now just soft steady rainfall. All the birds are tweeting away out there in excitement :)
-
A little rain over night then a scorching day, for working in the garden - cloud came over and the rain started at about 6. It smells lovely out there, but it is still just as hot
-
We've had rain again today - forecast said "a sunny afternoon" but no. Bark mulch added to an elderly neighbour's garden to keep it looking good for her. Then it poured.
The smell of rain on dry ground is lovely as Mum says... noticed it the other day. Gorgeous.
-
A damp start this morning again. Can't moan though after all the dry weeks previously. The garden does really seemed to have breathed a sigh of relief and perked up :)
-
A damp start this morning again. Can't moan though after all the dry weeks previously. The garden does really seemed to have breathed a sigh of relief and perked up :)
Same here and a cool 12C, more rain forecast for this afternoon and evening.
MetO is saying Minimum temperature 4 °C.
for the SE tonight, so guess I'll be out with the fleece after tea :(
-
Hailstones right now ::)
-
Clear now but hailstones here this PM too.
Pretty heavy downpour I caught on the M3 near Winchester but coming home I found that it was so bad it had punched holes in the plastic cover on my pop up greenhouse. Basically ripped the roof to shreds😱😱😱
I am just going to cross my fingers and hope it's enough protection till it's warm enough to put out the rest of my tomatoes and the squashes.
Cheers HH
-
As it has rained all night here I am more than happy.
-
I bought myself a toy - an electronic, wireless raingauge. It tells me we've now had 72.9 mm of rain (near 3" in proper money" since the heatwave broke.
FANTASTIC :)
-
Jolly hot here - thank goodness a little breeze has just sprung up as we've had lunch outside.
-
Thought we might cop for one of those nice heavy showers passing across the country...
...we did: 3-4 drops (might have been 4 - I blinked! :nowink:)
-
Thought we might cop for one of those nice heavy showers passing across the country...
...we did: 3-4 drops (might have been 4 - I blinked! :nowink:)
The same thing happened here, however the MetO forecast for the SE says
Between 13:00 Fri 2nd and 23:00 Fri 2nd
There is the risk of torrential downpours on Friday afternoon and evening. Whilst most places will miss the worst, it could lead to localised surface water flooding and difficult driving conditions. Frequent lightning and perhaps hail could be additional hazards.
I can but hope ;)
-
Exactly the same Met Office warning for here too Mum - they're obviously keeping a close watch on their behinds!
-
Brief pause in the heavy rain at the moment - half an inch so far today, more later, and only a (breezy) 13C now.
Trying hard not to grumble about it! ::) ;)
-
Cool, overcast and breezy here. We have had a few spits and spats of rain, but I think the main band is due to hit us later.
Trying hard not to grumble about it! ::) ;)
I know, but the crops really need it. Think of your sweetcorn drinking it all up ;)
-
Still waiting for the promised rain just dank and damp here, certainly nothing to make any difference to the garden.
-
Trying hard not to grumble about it! ::) ;)
I know, but the crops really need it. Think of your sweetcorn drinking it all up ;)
Poor little sweetcorn plants were only planted out 6 days ago - I'm more likely to hear slugs gobbling them up than the sweetcorn slurping up the rain!
-
It's been very windy and weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeing down all day :(.
-
We've had winds gusting around 50mph and 60mm of rain in the last 24 hours. It's about 14 degrees now. Greenhouse still standing!
The weather woke me up twice and an extremely cold wet big black cat woke me around 5.30am as he pushed his way under the duvet purring like a lawnmower to dry off :( I had to distract him with breakfast before I staggered back to bed.
-
Wet and windy here too. Not complaining, just commenting.
-
Eugh! Nothing worse than wet cat - except maybe wet dog doing the same thing
We had half an inch of rain overnight, and blustery showers on and off today. The fence panel flapping about will need attention, as soon as the winds ease down a bit ::)
-
12.2 degrees in the plastic greenhouse and windy and wet. Hope crops are OK down there!
-
It's been very windy and weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeing down all day :(.
Same 80 miles to the north of you
-
Its dry but cold and still windy,we have damage to the rhubarb, snapped most of the stalks clean off, some pea plants broken, alot of the strawberry leaves covering the fruit also broken off, other wise all good,we have had plenty of the much needed rain :)Lillileaf
-
Still a bit windy here. Sun shining though, plot looks okay though one brussel plant is needing support. No damage that's not retrievable :),
-
Breezy here, although nothing as bad as yesterday. My tally of losses so far is a large globe artichoke stem bearing several heads :( and my angelica, which has snapped at the base. Not so bothered about the latter - I'll drag it into the chicken run later.
Its sunny and fairly warm. Everything is drying out after the battering it got yesterday.
-
All wet and windy here on Anglesey :(,i knew it once the rain started it won't know when to stop,it is nice and warm at least.
-
Brightening up now after a very wet morning (just under half an inch.)
Decent forecast for tomorrow - hope it's right because I'm off to the RHS flower show at Chatsworth Park tomorrow and my wallet is still smarting from the cost of the tickets!
-
Cool, overcast, blustery and rain in the air. Thank heaven for the Sunday papers
-
It's windy, cloudy but 22C and humid *weird*
-
Sun trying to break through but needs to try harder - it's only 15C at the moment and breezy with it.
-
Forecast was a maximum of 28C here, currently 28.8C (84F) ('official' shade temperature according to my online local weather station.)
Not just the plants that are wilting, although the humidity is a relatively low 41% at the moment.
-
30C here in Reading, even though it is cloudy. Hotter than that in the garden I think
-
hot. lovely if you can do as you please sit in the sun or shade.
not good having to work, very oppressive
-
hot hot hot no wind, shame I have to go to work
-
32 in a shady part of the garden today - sizzling
-
34 in direct sun.
-
28 here on the Island at 9am when I left to go to England to see my Granddaughter. She started to get very fractious and I told my daughter to drop me back off at the Red Jet to go home and take her home to Romsey and cool off. We did stay most of the time within the West Quay shopping center which is air conditioned.
-
Overcast with a good breeze blowing. Doors and windows are all open to get some cool fresh air into the house :D
-
14șC Misty Drizzle
Hard to believe it was mid-twenties yesterday. At least I can spend some time in the polytunnel without collapsing from heat stroke now
-
back to normal wet and windy :(,the good weather was veery nice while it lasted.
-
Same here, thick cloud, gusty wind, intermittent rain and 14C with a high forecast of 16C
-
We are staying in a quaint little rented holiday cottage in Dickleburgh, south Norfolk, and it has been warm (24C) and mainly sunny but breezy here today.
Looking at the lawns here some rain would be welcome - not sure about that myself, although forecast not too bad at least for the next few days.
-
It has been warm and overcast all day, with just enough rain at lunchtime to wet the path. Walked literally around the corner to the allotment and that had had a good soaking. Picked peas and came home with soaked through trainers and jeans wet almost to knee level ::) Weather is weird :nowink:
-
I've just got back from the plot, where it has been warm, breezy and a mix of sunshine and more overcast sessions. It started raining almost as soon as I got home. How nice of it to wait and it can water my new plantings in a bit more :D
-
Drizzle - not enough to be of any use but enough to make everything damp.
-
We had over an inch of rain yesterday. Today is cool, part-clouded and breezy. Current temperature is 14C with a day maximum forecast of 15C. More like October weather after last week's heatwave
-
steady rain all night until lunch time.
cool and grey this evening.
-
heavy rain, gusty winds and 11 degrees.. now getting tired of convincing myself it's good for the garden, and will save me topping up water butts :(
-
heavy rain, gusty winds and 11 degrees.. now getting tired of convincing myself it's good for the garden, and will save me topping up water butts :(
Feel free to send it this way ! I've had nothing but drizzle. The weather fronts have gone above and below me, it's still dry as a bone outside if you move the soil around (although the grass has greened up) and the water butts are empty.
-
Plain miserable here - wet and 10șC :(
-
this morning blue sky no wind and the sun is out :D,a great day to be in the garden.
-
Cloudy, nagging wind and 16C
-
I got soaked in a sharp shower this morning, but it has slowly changed to warm and sunny 8)
-
just glorious. pleasant sunshine, slight breeze.
-
Cold, at 12C, grey and persisting down with rain
-
The BBC says we have light cloud.. it's very dark, drizzling and cool 16șC - that's my plans for the day in the bin.
-
Where's my rain ? It's a dust bowl out there. This mornings forecast for thunderstorms has now been changed to 31degree sunshine again.
-
Where's my rain ?
Snowdonia. of course :(
-
Nice morning sunny few clouds nice and warm :)its my day off i will make the most of the good weather
-
It's cloudy, with a few sunny patches and clouds are darkening - so hopefully we will get one of the forecast showers *fingers crossed* :D
Still quite warm 21.6C and humid.
-
Still too warm and muggy, and tonight's rain... moved until tomorrow again.
-
Sunny all day, a relatively pleasant 22C, no rain for over a week, and none forecast until Monday at the earliest.
-
Yippee!
It's been raining, although there wasn't much and it seems to have stopped now (hence the small 'yippee'.)
Will edit to add a bigger yippee if we get some more! ;)
-
RAIN but we are supposed to get RAIN today ... I wait with baited breath.
-
Despite a yellow warning for storms yesterday we got none (wrong again! too many warnings nowadays?)
Today it is quite cloudy and rain is forecast for later at 95% probability overnight - fingers crossed again!
-
Siling it down here. Proper barrel filling rain. Should swell the spuds too if it doesn't bring the blight.
-
Rain glorious RAIN we had a bit this morning but now it is literally pouring.
Hopefully this will restore my drained water butt.
Getting bored with watering every single night in the very hot weather.
Looks like it will keep going all evening😀😀😀
Cheers HH
-
This morning it is raining and cooler :(
-
About 14șC, 3.1mm rain in the last 24hrs and we're in low cloud so it's like a thick fog out there.
-
Muggy, cloudy. No rain although it was forecast. Again.
-
The BBC insist it is heavy cloud but it's actually drizzle - 5.5mm in last 24 hours. Cool as well - 13ș C. A gentle breeze.
-
Beautiful sunny morning, gentle breeze, 18C
-
Despite forecasts for a sunny day, it's depressingly cloudy, but calm. The dial shows 20C but feels cooler - weird weather, as if it's waiting for something to happen  A storm on the way perhaps?
-
21C and sunny - forecast to be the best day of the week - yet another mention of thunderstorms from Wednesday onwards (yet to have one this year despite several 'yellow warnings' but they're bound to be right eventually!)
-
a bit windy, but not as windy as yesterday. Sunshine, a nice 14 degrees. It's supposed to get up to 18 degrees today, and even 20 tomorrow (the hottest day of the year so far). Not looking forward to that :( Prefer when it's under 18 degrees!
-
25 in the shade, sunny. Just as well I watered thoroughly yesterday!
-
The rain has just started here. There have been a couple of rumbles of thunder as well. Its been a very hot humid day, so it is all very welcome :)
-
Serious rain here a couple of hours ago. Calmed down now but quite a vigorous thunderstorm with lightening within a mile of here. Good for my water butt though.😉😉
Cheers HH
-
6am there are clouds looks like we are in for a storm ???,small amount of rain over night.
-
Still no rain here - it looks to have gone to the east and west of us - so much for the 12mm we were forecast.
-
We had, (according to my new rain gauge), 6mm here in Clacton on Sea at 0300 + during the thunderstorm.
-
Not a drop here - still got the yellow warning triangle for storms though. ::)
18C and 90% humidity at the moment, so a storm wouldn't go amiss, although the garden would probably prefer something gentler.
-
Another thunderstorm passed through here at about 2.00 AM this morning that plus the earlier rain had completely filled my water butt.
Cheers HH
-
We had quite a bit of thunder and lightening last night and the rain got very heavy at times. This morning it is very grey, there is a lot of moisture in the air and everything in the garden is drippy.
-
Yes, cracking storm at 2am watched it for ages before it started to move away. 18mm rain according to the weather station (literally just around the corner)
-
Warm, grey, and unfortunately bone dry.
-
Rain < happy dance> although Id still like some Rain
-
Yippee! Heavy rain in the last hour here too Lardman, but it's stopped now (if the yippee font size was the same as the quantity (4mm) it would be invisible. :()
First rain for 9 days, and that wasn't much - maybe a bit more to come a little later this morning...
-
very wet and windy but warm i hate to say it but we need the rain, the veg will love it.
-
Rained hard yesterday but this morning it's sunny and gusty. It'll about blow the French climbers all over the place.
-
Yesterdays rain fizzled out :( We're forecast 20mm today but all we've had so far is a bit of drizzle, a lot of wind and warm temperatures - you know, blight weather ::)
-
Yesterdays rain fizzled out :( We're forecast 20mm today but all we've had so far is a bit of drizzle, a lot of wind and warm temperatures - you know, blight weather ::)
You're a cheery soul! :)
-
You're a cheery soul! :)
I know but just think how much I'd moan about it if my tomato plants weren't already dead
-
wet, windy, water running down the yard.
-
A lovely sunny day but quite windy, so not too hot, and we had a useful 6mm of rain overnight 8)
-
Wet night, same total as MoS, sunny now but little breeze. :)
-
We had rain last night and sunshine and showers earlier today, but this afternoon has just been rain of varying degrees.
Everything is soaked, but the plot will love it :)
-
Read 'em and weep, pampered southerners - 22mm of rain in the last 24 hours! :)
-
Proper rain last night :D Thanks for sharing John ::)
Sunny spells and showers most of the day, everything looks much better in the garden.
-
Wet and lovely and cool........ back to dry and warm tomorrow.
Loving it :)
-
Bright enough but quite cloudy, around 12șC - bit of a shower overnight.
-
Dull but not actually raining, but at only 14C with a strong northerly breeze it ain't very summery out there! :nowink:
-
It's 17C here and very humid. I got rained on at the bus stop on the way to the shops, and then got rained on again on the way home. It must be my lucky day ::)
-
17C and chucking it down. Estimate is over 1" since 9am
-
After 2 days of lovely sun, we had 17mm of rain and it's not exactly summer. Wind's just got up now which is not great. Decided to close up the polytunnel and greenhouse, just in case the wind gets stronger. Just started closing the tunnel doors when the heaven's opened - rain and a bit of hail. Despite running back I'm soaked :)
-
It was a very hazy but bright morning which gradually clouded over with a sprinkle of rain late afternoon. It's turned quite cool this evening, compared to the last few weeks, even the cat didn't stay out for long
Really beginning to notice the nights drawing in ???
-
Wetter (heavy rain) and cooler (17C) than forecast - when the weather is changeable I find it more useful looking at the rain radar than the forecasts if I'm planning a spot of outdoor activity. ::)
-
Local weather station says it's 18C out there - sure don't feel like it!
It's been grey all day, with just some lighter grey, and light showers now and again.
-
same here Mum, but without the showers, (they'll be along shortly, by the look of the sky, :D)
-
After rain on and off yesterday afternoon, it absolutely poured down in the evening and overnight. The sun is just about out now, but everything is soaked out there.
-
Reasonably bright now but just under half an inch of rain in about two hours overnight (hands up those who were almost praying for rain a few weeks ago! ::) ;))
-
Very variable, as in one minute it's sunny, next minute it's throwing it down! >:(
-
It's been a lovely sunny, fresh day up here. Rain threatened a couple of times but never amounted to much and apart from meal-times I've been outside all day. Perfect
-
Lovely here. Dry and sunny with few spots of rain.
Managed all afternoon at plot.
-
Very variable, as in one minute it's sunny, next minute it's throwing it down! >:(
Same for us. Just as well really since I spent the morning sorting out papers (research for a possible book) and was hijacked at gunpoint this afternoon "Take this car to Wilkos!" What's a chap to do?
-
Just had a heavy 'April' shower, falling at a rate of 125mm (5") per hour according to my local weather station.
Luckily it only lasted a few minutes, although that was long enough to deposit nearly 1/3rd of an inch on my garden, which is already quite moist enough thankyou! :tongue2:
-
Just watched the weather forecast.. what's the number for Samaritans? :(
-
So this is August
It's raining again
Heavy grey skies, drizzle to heavy rain, 14șC, winds moderate but gusting at points.
-
Grey, a bit too windy with off and on drizzle, commonly known as a British summers day. ::)
-
Similar, a bit more than drizzle but no wind. Stopped all my outdoor activities
-
Grey, a bit too windy with off and on drizzle, commonly known as a British summers day. ::)
I did manage a coatless walk this morning, rain started after lunch here. But yes, it must be summer - I've just had to put a cardi on :tongue2:
-
I've just had to put a cardi on :tongue2:
Mother Lard has put the central heating back on ::)
Grey and raining today with a stiff breeze making it unpleasant to be outside.
-
Groundhog day: cool, breezy, heavy showers - bright at the moment but more showers racing up through Wales, many with a Sheffield postcode on them by the looks of it. :nowink:
-
Mother Lard has put the central heating back on ::)
Bless! It's surprising how bad body temperature regulation gets as we age :(
Anyway - back to weather ;)
It's windy, gusts to 22km/h forecast to rise into the 40s, but feels warm out of the wind 20C. Grey skies with the odd bit of blue sky.
-
We have sun :D OK, there are grey clouds around too, but the sun is up there and so far its stayed dry :)
-
Same, plus very breezy, here :D
-
Currently having thunder but without the storm to go with it
Other than that grey, windy with the odd shower.
-
Rumbling of thunder on & off with torrential downpours, good job this years sewing club garden party is actually afternoon tea in a local cafe🙄😊
-
Sunny, 18C and breezy but just had a torrential downpour which flooded the path, and removed satellite signal ::) 10mins later and we're back to sunny and breezy
I ran in from the greenhouse when it started and got soaked! If I'd known it was going to be over and done with so quickly, I'd have stayed out there ;)
-
Grey, very grey. Rain predicted soon for the rest of the day :(
-
Calm, with not a cloud in the sky 18C 8) after a cold night - only 8C in the greenhouse
-
Ghastly, unbelievably so for the time of year - only 12C and it's been drizzling continuously since dawn. :(
-
Commiserations - it's 16C here and very light drizzle started half an hour ago.
On the rain radar it looks as if we may miss the worst of it....
-
Torrential rain for most of the night, followed by light showers & heavy showers in between all day & decidedly chilly here
-
Commiserations - it's 16C here and very light drizzle started half an hour ago.
On the rain radar it looks as if we may miss the worst of it....
I spoke too soon ::) had 36mm in half an hour. It was overflowing the gutters and flooded the back yard and the front path! Put it this way - I'm glad it stopped before it got any deeper
-
Ghastly, unbelievably so for the time of year - only 12C and it's been drizzling continuously since dawn. :(
Hasn't stopped raining today for a single minute, and the temperature hasn't risen above 12C.
Keep telling myself that at least I'm not 'enjoying' a soggy August holiday in the UK with my wife and kids, which makes me feel a bit better (but not much!)
-
For once, Northwest was best,
Sunny periods all day, one light shower and max of 19C
-
much better than forecasted . dry all day.
-
Hardly able to cope with the heat but worried about the lack of rain.
This post is sponsored by the North Wales Tourist Board - come and see our summer roadworks!
-
Over 24 hours of rain of varying intensity. Serves me right for watering stuff!!!
-
Very cloudy but they've promised a dry day with sunny intervals. It's hardly warm though at 14ș rising to a peak of 16șC
-
More rain overnight & just to vary it a little rain set in for the day here
-
Having rained continuously for 27 hours (total 40mm) it's now stopped, although it's very grey, and only 12C with a northerly breeze.
The band of rain responsible for it all now seems to be trundling away to the south west - it's good to share! ;)
-
We're currently having July's rain. ::)
-
Ahaa it's brightening up enough. Not a good fortnight to take the roof of your house is it?
-
 That is bad timing :( Good luck!
It's been sunny and warm 'til now 8) The forecast rain won't be long now, by the look of the sky..
-
Derek the Welsh BBC weatherman was positively gleeful last night when he pointed out that southern England would be wet when Wales was dry. You could almost see him thinking - "At last, we get the better weather"
-
when he pointed out that southern England would be wet
And it was/still is. A really dreary day. You can have your weather back whenever you want
-
We've had cloudy skies since lunchtime. but we've had no rain to speak of - just half an hour of drizzle.
You watch we'll get a tremendous thunderstorm in the night now, just to prove me wrong
-
We had 9mm of rain yesterday up till 1700, and another 17mm overnight, that's an inch in 24hrs,.
-
Sunny but a fair bit of cloud around and it's only about 13șC which is pretty low for August
-
You watch we'll get a tremendous thunderstorm in the night now, just to prove me wrong
Yup, at 3 am  Today it's overcast and feeling quite chilly at 15C.
-
Glorious day today but as is the norm no time for gardening as I've been Willow watching 😊
-
Sudden violent electrical storm just after midnight - blew out the router (I'm on the spare)
Promising a sunny day but so far it's been low cloud around us like thick fog and drizzle but it is improving now
-
Been a much better week so far than forecast at the weekend - only rain was last night (quite a lot of it) but it's sunny now, little wind, and 20C. :)
-
Still drizzly here, and 19C, but - I may be being optimistic - the sky looks to be lightening a tad ::)
-
Beautiful calm sunny day here at 21C but with rain forecast tonight
-
It improved for a bit then back to thick cloud and drizzle. It's about 17șC but the wind makes it feel colder
-
Big thunderstorm just now, heading inland!
-
Lovely day (but only if your idea of great weather is squally showers with winds gusting up to 25mph, and a temperature of barely 13C.) :nowink:
-
A warm and sunny morning but it has clouded over now. Nothing showing on the rain radar though!
-
Was supposed to be light cloud but we had a fair bit of drizzle and it was chilly all day in the wind. Nice in the polytunnel though! Brightened up a bit in the afternoon for a while though which was nice
-
In a 4-letter word, grim. Cool, cloudy, gusty wind and a few very heavy showers. So much standing water that I even need wellies in the polytunnel
-
no showers, windy morning, bright blue skies. grey this evening
-
Less breezy than yesterday which was a bit of a mixed bag of sun, showers and bit of quite cool weather - seeing as it is supposed to be summer ::) The sky looks brighter today as well :)
-
20C (that's the good bit) - very dull and misty (almost foggy earlier. :()
-
Unaccustomedly muggy at 26C but forecast to return to normal after tomorrow
-
What a bonkers night/ early morning we had!! Storms roled in around 5am right on top of us  house was shaking.
With the storm came the rain, the rain gauge recorded 30mm in a 4 1/2 hour slot, roads were flooded, gardens were flooded.
starting to brighten up now.
-
That storm hit us a little earlier - about 15mm of rain . The lightning didn't take out the router this time.. but it's killed the telephone :(
-
Beautiful, warm, sunny and calm day. Temp 20C
-
Had a lovely warm sunny morning but sky turned black a few minutes ago and now we have a torrential downpour. Oh well!
-
Beautiful, calm, sunny day since 7am. Peaked at 20C but stayed around 18C all day. The world is upside down with Cumbria getting better weather than all you southerners
-
 Err excuse me this Southerner had a lovely sunny day today as well 8) ::)
-
Good news is that it's a very mild 16C out there. :)
Bad news is that it's 0750 and still very dark and very wet. :(
-
Much the same here - 17C grey and drizzly *sigh* no morning cuppa outside today.
-
It was raining that heavily in the wee small hours that it woke me up! 37.8mm in the last 24hrs
14 degrees though, so not awful
-
Anyone else had almighty thunderstorms and hail today?
-
They were forecast, but all we got was drizzle all day ::)
It did get quite chilly today so heating went on low for a couple of hours (helps dry the washing!) :)
-
It certainly was wet here........ damp all day, a few dry patches and Niagara Falls in between.
-
Anyone else had almighty thunderstorms and hail today?
Yes we had 2 episodes of a thunderstorm, no hail thankfully
-
Very wet and windy with a touch of sun,i would like less of the first two and lot of sun
-
It's cloudy with a few breaks this morning, very wet underfoot and feels chilly at 12C; dipped just into single figures in the greenhouse last night :(
-
It's just awful, been lashing down for the parts few days. The plot will be like a swamp. Will see what it's like in the morning, have to start getting the rest of the spuds in.
-
More thunder and rain today. A bit more sun and no hail, thankfully. What happened to that Indian Summer I ordered? Eb*y fail again!! :D
-
Torrential downpours on & off all day
-
Soggy
-
We had hail ::) Plus thunder, lightening and torrential downpours. There was sun first thing and odd glimpses through the day. Its decidedly cool tonight and feels autumnal :(
-
Gales forecast for later - time to batten down the greenhouse and close up the polytunnel. Not too wet at the moment but hardly pleasant :(
And I was so sure we'd have a lovely September!
-
We had hail ::) Plus thunder, lightening and torrential downpours. There was sun first thing and odd glimpses through the day. Its decidedly cool .... and feels autumnal :(
Yesterday afternoon was quite nice here - but the above perfectly describes today! Went to my plot for some harvesting and came back shivery. Heating on soon me thinks
-
Another day when the maximum temperature has struggled to get into the mid-teens (currently 14C, getting windy, and starting to rain.)
My house has been steadily losing its heat, and so have I, and I'm definitely nearing the point where I might stop slapping my hand every time it strays towards the C/H thermostat!
-
After a perfectly horrible day, I think it is going to be a nice evening.
-
Windy, still cool (14C), lots of showers, finally succumbed to temptation with the C/H thermostat this morning.
Not complaining though - got two friends currently on holiday in Florida (they're OK) and 2 others currently walking the northern part of the Foss way (OK too, but almost certainly not enjoying themselves given the weather there today! :nowink:)
-
We've had a couple of short sharp showers, but did manage to harvest my bigger squash during the sunny bits :D
-
It's like flippin' winter! Gales coming in tomorrow apparently :)
-
Roller-coaster weather here...
Sunny patches.... rolling clouds.... warming sun.... howling gale..... torrential rain.....
The joys of the British weather?
-
I thought we might me in Autumn mode, but it seems we've gone straight to Winter ::)
Down to 6C overnight in the greenhouse and only 9C now *sigh*
Just looked at the forecast, and the high is only 14C :( It's a shame for anyone taking a late holiday...
-
Its been much nicer here than forecast. No heatwave, but the rain has stayed off and I got a load of tidying and moving done in the garden at home.
New shed on its way in a few weeks, so that has made me focus a bit on making sure the route is clear ::)
-
After a very hefty prolonged down-pour on Saturday complete with what almost looked like hail, today the sun is out.
Generally temperatures are lower than normal for this time of year with chilly nights but 16C today - feels warmer in the sun :)
-
Just had another downpour with hail!! So much for cloudy all day & rain after 6p.m. Don't think the forecast has been correct for weeks👿
-
A topsy-turvy day, started off cool and cloudy, then it was sunny and warm at lunchtime 8) then the sky went dark and we've just had a hailstorm. Now we're back to cool and cloudy
-
Overnight grass frost, low of 3C in polytunnel. Temp at 12C by 9.30 and quite sunny
-
Bright and comfortable out this morning - now back to the gloom and grey cotton wool clouds.
Where oh where are the bright orange and red filled autumns or even the last few days of summer clinging on?
-
It dipped down to 5.6C in the greenhouse overnight  so I'm glad I brought all my squash under cover.
Forecast is to warm up a bit later in the week, but the damage has been done. Time to begin the winter clear up, I think, much earlier than the last few years :(
-
Forecast is to warm up a bit later in the week, but the damage has been done. Time to begin the winter clear up, I think, much earlier than the last few years :(
I think you're right - I've often managed to keep the greenhouse tomatoes going until November but not this year.
We had a builder coming today to re-do the flat roof on the porch but he's not shown up. Maybe due to the rain and high winds! I'm beginning to wonder if the met office should stop messing around with those super-computers and go back to the fir-cone and strip of seaweed method. As Yoda might say: "Accurate not your forecasts are" :)
-
Forecast is to warm up a bit later in the week,
It certainly has been sunny on the plot most of the day - I quickly took of my cardi :D still in t-shirt mode with 19C now, the high was 21C at 3pm 8)
-
Just started a week's holiday just outside Tenby - cottage is superb with views of the sea. Clue to the current weather: we can't actually see the sea! Hopefully it will dry up a bit later.
-
Another glorious sunny day here 8) 22C now :)
-
Another glorious sunny day here 8) 22C now :)
We had one of those at about the same time as you. Lift the spirits days like that after grey damp days. :)
-
Torrential rain here on my holdays
-
Torrential rain here on my holdays
:( :( :(
Hope it cheers up for you snowdrops.
Grey here today. It was raining all night and has only just fizzled out. Feels very autumnal ::)
-
Yes, rain overnight and cloudy now - but very warm 19C and humid.
Went for a walk in my waterproof jacket, like you do when the sky threatens rain, and had to carry it cos I got too hot ::)
Lots of leaves changing colour on the rec.
-
Yes thanks, it had about stopped when we got out & about & I too ended up carrying my waterproof. Got back to our digs & the sun was out a bit
-
Rain did dry up yesterday in time to explore Tenby (and enjoy a 'Pembrokeshire pasty' ::))
Superb weather today for our trip to Pembroke castle, now sat outside our cottage enjoying the late afternoon sunshine. :)
-
It's been lovely here - got me by surprise as I got chatting with a pal who's doing some building work and when I got up to the polytunnel at 10:30 it was 39șC in there!!
About 4pm spotted a bank of fog rolling in from the sea which got up to us a bit after 5pm. Bit chilly after that :(
Supposed to be dry tomorrow... fingers crossed!
-
Very autumnal. Dull, 12C and intermittent rain. Gales forecast for tonight
-
The same as yesterday, grey, dank and cool :( and now the wind is getting up, I just had to shut the greenhouse doors.
-
We survived the gales in South Ayrshire last night.
The Beech trees were chucking their beechnuts at the windows all night along with small sticks they didn't want any more.
Since we are in a new house on a rural plot we are not used to the noises from the trees yet. Last night was a bit of an eye opener with the south westerlies roaring up the paddock, through the Beech/Oak/Ash trees and slamming into the plate glass double glazing.
We didn't get a lot of sleep and this morning I had to chase the recycling bins and also find the missing lid of the compost bin. No damage, just huge bags under my eyes and hunched shoulders!
-
In a word, soggy. We had an estimated 3" of rain in the last sixteen hours causing road closures and flooding some properties. Just Cumbrian business as normal!
-
Drizzle on and off all day - all this grey is really depressing :(
I need to find the Vit D tablets again!
-
The forecast for tomorrow is SCARY! 40mph winds starting at 7:00 rising to 70mph by 16:00 then falling to 40mph by 5:00 Tuesday.
The temperature is just weird - starts shooting up around 5am to 18șC peaking at 19șC by 8am
The winds here up the hill tend to be higher than forecast so we may see 80 or 90mph but the temp is usually a couple of degrees lower.
-
An absolutely gorgeous day here although the ground is, er, rather wet to say the least!
-
Glorious day here too, managed 3 hours at the plot most of it in a sleeveless t shirt, just had to put my fishermans smock on when I sat for a cuppa & just as I cleared up & the sun had gone down behind the houses
-
Thought we were never going to see daylight here today, but it's quite sunny now with a strong breeze gusting up to 40mph.
Must be windy in lots of places today - the latest electricity generation figures show wind generation higher than nuclear, with all coal-fired stations switched off:
-
Had to defrost the car this morning  the joys of a 6am start but it's been bright and breezy the rest of the day.
-
According to the met office, it's 7șC According to 2 thermometers it's 0.9șC According to brass monkey, it's time to find a welding shop! :)
-
According to the pavement this morning there was more frost than forecast yesterday evening. ;)
-
Yes a heavy frost on ground and cars, greenhouse thermometer showed 0.8C overnight minimum Brr!
It's 7C now, in the sunshine ::)
-
The rain has been persisting down since last night, rivers are dangerously high and I really feel for those poor folk living in their flood plains. They will be thinking December 2015, Storm Desmond revisited
-
It's been a windy but bright day here and also very mild for the time of year 15C at lunchtime. Blowing a hoolie now though and forecast to carry on all night!
Good luck to the North which is forecast to be a lot worse than us.
-
I think you're getting it worse than we are Alan - and it's pouring down in Snowdonia. 2 miserable hens sheltering under the coop and 3 silly ones without the sense to get in from the rain looking like drowned rats! The cats are avoiding the great outdoors for some reason.
We've had 84mm which is over 3" in real money since it started! Correction - Now reading 104mm on my gauge!
-
After Wednesday's 4 inches of rain the land was sodden. The hill behind us drained down, overwhelmed the land drain and soakaway and poured out of the base of the retaining wall. So we had a stream running down the side of the house, over a gulley that was overwhelmed and then across the front patio until it found another drain.
This morning it's mainly blue skies with clouds and crisp winter sun About 3ș C and beautiful.
Photo of sunshine on the house across the road.
-
Similar here. About 100 mm of rain in last 48 hours. Not measured it but a wheelbarrow is full to overflowing but we have a gloriously frosty morning today with sun rapidly thawing it all out. Our field is just like a marsh and there is a thin coat of ice on the pond
-
Here on Anglesey we had a drenching :(it never stopped raining roads flooded, horrible to drive in,a friend got stuck >:(in flood water had to climb out of the window!!!,car now scrap insurance pay out,you can replace a car not people.
-
-2C in the greenhouse overnight :( 6C now, bright and sunny with it right now, so I'm off up the road to get my paper :D
-
It was bitter here all day. I don't think it got over 4 and wind was cutting. Some hail to boot.
-
Another freezing night, bright white with frost this morning. I haven't ventured out yet to see the minimum temp Brr! (neither has the cat ::) )
Will update later..
It was -1.7C with quite a thick layer of ice in the water butt.
-
Crisp and sparkly white with frost here, but blue sky and sunshine. I have ventured out to let the chickens out and it doesn't seem as cold as yesterday morning.
-
Drizzle, 5șC but a biting wind still - great for an SAS survival course!
-
Blustery showers and 5C
-
Dank dismal, but it is 10C :)
The cold is due to come back again later today, though ::)
-
It rained overnight so was a little bit warmer but the wind chill has kept it close to freezing. Rest of the week looks to be very cold indeed.
-
Quite a strong NW breeze giving the 4.5C a 'feels like' of -1.2C
Wouldn't be too bothered but I've got to go out and bring the bins in and dig a few parsnips for tea, and it now looks as if there's going to be a shower or two... :nowink:
-
Just below freezing overnight, with a high of 6C at lunchtime.
Popped to the plot to harvest a swede and some potatoes from the shed and my fingers were so cold (forgot my gloves  ) that I popped a blood vessel in my little finger Ouch!
-
Once again it's storming - high winds gusting and rain hammering down - surprisingly warm according to the thermometer at 10șC but it feels freezing.
It went really black towards evening - so the chickens decided to have an early night and headed up the stairs to perchland. I went up to tuck them in singing the night night song to them despite the rain. What me soppy? Don't be silly!
-

Still warm here as well, 9C and the wind has begun to gust quite strongly over the last half hour. Maybe the start of storm Caroline.
https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/barometer/uk-storm-centre/storm-caroline
-
Its warm, windy and very wet,and its said to get very cold
-
Rather wet and windy night followed by a dry and windy day, but getting colder all the time (11C at 0200, now 7C. :nowink:) Looks like it's much rougher in parts of Scotland though.
-
It stayed windy overnight and this morning, and we had a lot of rain. The wind stopped and so did the rain - now it feels like the calm before the storm IYKWIM?
For the SE the MetO says This Evening and Tonight: A few wintry showers are likely, particularly in the north of the region, turning increasingly to sleet and snow.
Wellies are at the ready
Good luck everyone, while this artic blast lasts
-
More a lot of hail than snow but it's started sticking - just above freezing and the wind really got up in the night chucking large clay pots around the patio.
Whatever the weather, livestock need to be fed!
-
-2C overnight, max of 2C today but a beautiful crystal-clear day Seems same weather but colder forecast for next few weeks
-
-3 now but clear, just got my seed order for next year so the weather can take second place for the rest of the day. More tea please
-
We're all snuggled up in a blanket of snow, just like a Christmas card. At least my plot now looks as tidy as anyone else's.
-
Slight dusting of snow overnight, fine today but max temp only 2C, with a lazy wind giving a 'feel like' of -4.5C (don't actually need stats to know that's too cold for soldering peripheral items back on to brass monkeys!)
-
about 4 cms this morning.
drove down to work no snow. you could clearly see the snow line.
v.cold and wintery showers.
not freezing when I left work @6pm
got home freezing hard, luck my son had gritted the hill up to the house.
-
Below freezing even in the sun - there's a definite wind chill from the breeze. The snow forecast for tomorrow has been cancelled - perhaps that was what we had last Thursday unexpectedly. Or perhaps it will happen anyway.
-
Decidedly cold but a little sunshine pushing through. No winds yet...
-
It's been pretty cold and very grey - a few little flurries of hail / snow but nothing to bother you.
They were on about heavy snow coming in so we've been putting polytunnel polythene over the weldmesh roof and a couple of windbreak panels on the chicken's secure run.
Can't say I felt cold but wearing a few layers.. like 2 thermal vests (1 long sleeved), long johns, shirt, jumper, lined fleece, ear covering hat. :)
-
its felt cold all day but the roofs been dripping all day so must be giving.
would rather have rain than the snow forecasted for tonight.
-
The heating came on overnight and it's left on a low mark. It's forecast to be dry but not to get to freezing point. Not looking a whole lot warmer for the rest of the week either.
-
Not as bad here as they predicted, just light wet snow that's hardly sticking
-
No snow here 4C, just lots of rain, and the wind is getting up as forecast - gale force later (If they're right!)
-
very frosty at 5am so hoping it will be a sunny day
-
We are melting. Slush, standing water and all thing wet and cold this morning, plus we are forecast sleet later - oh goody ::)
-
Dry, clear sky, bitterly cold at -6C at 9am with an overnight low of -9C
-
Absolutely beautiful - very cold but the outdoor thermometer varies between -37 and +6 so I reckon it's poorly!
Light snow - frozen crisp
-
-4c in east midlands at 8 o'clock this morning.
-
Not too bad here - dropped to about -3șC but it's around 0.5șC now and predicted to rise :)
Light cloud - still a fair bit of snow so bright, very little wind.
-
The mercury hasn't risen above zero today and all the snow has turned to treacherous ice now.
Excellent for taking the sprog out sledging. Not so good for massive bruise I now have on my backside!
-
A bit warmer, only just below freezing over night and 4C now - but it is sunny *Happy dance*
The sun makes all the difference after a week of unrelenting gloom :)
-
Still bitterly cold at 1C, thick mist makes it fell colder but a thaw forecast tomorrow
-
It is still -2C with freezing fog - I can hardly see the end of the garden
-
It rained before the frost lifted. Interesting times outside this morning.
-
Not at all nice here. It's cold, raining steadily with dark grey dismal clouds above and a mist overlying the surrounding fields.
-
Very much milder here yesterday and today. (Double figures for a change). Not exactly Spring-like but it's great to be out without feeling the grip of cold.
May the warmth be with you :)
-
The sun came out earlier for 10 minutes, the first time for three days, now another four days of permanent gloom before the next brief glimpse of the sun. It is at least mild so no problems with icy roads.
This is looking to be the fifth consecutive month in the Horsham district with below normal sunshine.
-
We have had a light scattering of snow overnight, but it has gone wet again now.
-
It's been pouring all night here and the footpath is flooded again. Gradually turning colder, as forecast, and now there are huge wet snowflakes in the rain :D As I'm typing the wind has started howling down the chimney ::)
I'm so glad I haven't got to go out although I really do need the exercise before I seize up
-
Blue sky and sunshine, but there is a heavy frost settled everywhere.
-
Seems like half of Worcestershire got a good dose of snow again, except Worcester itself! From the bedroom I can see the Malvern hills have had a nice topping of snow but all we have is a pretty heavy frost. No work at the allotment again today :(
-
Sings ' on a cold and frosty morning' at least nowadays, with double glazing, the ice is only on the outside of the window glass
-
Cold, grey and persisting down :( Time to organise the seed box I think ;)
-
Same here, daylight seems stuck in the twilight zone - so indoors it's an all lights on kind of day ::)
Wind is howling down the chimney and the path is flooded - again!
Low of -3.6C overnight in the greenhouse  and 7.5C now - the cat isn't impressed, she only got halfway through the cat flap before changing here mind. Her attempts at reversal were really comical
-
It's snowing on top of the frost that hasn't lifted for a couple of days. Wind from the East off the not so far distant sea. It's supposed to get warmer tomorrow. ::)
-
BBC got quite excited, showing several live shots of...not actually that much snow, which is about the amount we've had here. Daresay there was quite a lot more on higher ground though.
Seems to be less cold now as it's melting quite quickly.
