Plant ID needed
« on: September 22, 2015, 13:33 »
I've just noticed this growing amongst a small grass plant. Is it Cardamine praetensiss also called Lady's Smock?

I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

The top of the flower spike doesn't look right for Lady's Smock either (apart from the flowering time as MoS has already said of course)

Something about it reminds me of Polianthes tuberosa or a Schizostylis - what a puzzle

Flower pic a bit blurred as it is a bit windy here today. The actual flowers look like little snapdragons with a pale yellow centre. The other pic shows the leaves which are quite thin and you can see one of its stems lying on the ground.  Ignore the yellow Schizostylis flower.

Linaria   Can't see the backs of the flowers clearly enough to see if they come down to a spike at the back, but they look close and the leaves are right.

They do have a spike at the back of the flower so it is Linaria. Wonder where it came from - probably a bird, but will save the seed to grow next year. Thanks all.
