has anybody grown a chili plant ate the chili and kept the seeds from it and grown a plant from them and harvested fruit in the same season? i think i will give it a try anyway, should i let the seeds dry out first (ihow long)?

I haven't done it in the same season Sharky, but try it, you're not losing anything!  Although may be a bit late to sow now.

I have Habenaro chillies and birds eye chillies (Thai) growing in the greenhouse and these are from seeds in chillies from the supermarket so it is fairly easy to do.

I would think it would be almost imposible in our climate to grow one, save the seed and grow another one in the same year though.

It could be an interesting experiment. Why don't you try it. Sow your seed on New Years Day and see what happens. Let us know!

I sowed mine just before Christmas and I have two plants both producing chillie atm.  I just grew them on my windowsill.  I grew these from bought seeds but am collecting seed now to try again.
