Blackfly on tomatoes and courgettes
« on: June 23, 2008, 22:16 »
Hi all,
Second year of growing my own. Some things seem to be doing less well. Blackfly again on broad beans but forgot to pinch out tips so know why. Seem to have blackfly on tomato plants (which are limp and not growing well at all compared with last year) and on courgette plants although they are doing fine. Even on ranunculus and other flowers. Why such an infestation and can I do anything other than the usual mechanical organic sprays/fairy liquid?
Could it be cause of hopeless tomato plant growth? (bought them in: beefsteak - perhaps rubbish specimens?)..so much to learn...

I noticed today one of my squash plants in the garden was COVERED in blackfly  :!:  Haven't been to the plot for a few says so don'y know if it's the same down there. I didn't even know blackfly went for things like courgette & squash    Squashed all I could see.
