Hi, I wonder if anyone could advise me...i have a broody hen, would during sitting has had worms and also chciken mites. she is quite thin. She has been treated for both conditions. one of her eggs hatched this afternoon. We are worried that she hasnt drank or eaten anything for 30 hours now and its been really hot today. We have had to take her out of her pen every now and again over the past 21 days as she made no effort to do it herself dispite it being so hot and her being so thin.
What would you advise we do...do we get her out for five minutes or just leave her....we are worried she might get dehydrated?
Any advice would be good......also should we dust the chicks with the mite powder just in case weve missed any?

Hi,
Can you put a dish of water near her? If not take her away from the chick she does need a drink, the chick will be fine she won't leave it for long.

thanks for the advice...we just took her out and she had a good long drink, and a feed of grain. whilst she was out....took a peek and 2 more eggs now starting to hatch! so exciting!!! just hope they live.
we feel relieved now....i love this website....thanks again
