I have a couple of self catering holiday cottages here on our farm.   I always have a tea tray ready with tea and coffee , a pint of milk and a home made fresh cream victoria sponge cake made with our own eggs in the cottage fridge for when people arrive. I also put a dozen of our eggs in the fridge and tell them to ask if they need more, all free...

That's it.  I'm on my way.  See you in a couple of days.

Eating someones own eggs at a B&B when working away from home is what got me into keeping chickens, I had never seen scramled eggs that colour before.

If you have a B & B and want to keep hens for breakfast eggs you can allow folks to go and collect their own, under your supervision of course.  It goes without saying that everything has to be very clean as the health inspector will drop in unannounced

Having your own eggs, and offering local ingredients for your breakfast, can give you the competitive edge over your rivals

worrying about making cakes to sell at chruch fetes now....

Our hen supplier told us the hens are vaccinated against salmonella, and on the website it also states
:
"All our chickens are fully vaccinated against all the prevalent diseases so should cause you no worry during your ownership period. "

If i was on the lookout for a B&B and saw two adverts with one offering eggs for brekkie from there own chickens I'd book that one. We have stayed in a static caravan in the mountains of Wales and the eggs were supplied daily by the owner for free as soon as she'd collected them from the hen shed about 20 foot away from the caravan....bliss.
R.I.P Bobby Smiler Smith......love you always little fella.

Min200 - could you expand on the cake thing? Does it apply to church fete type events or is it just commercial selling?

I'm almost certain that the rule is that so long as you are providing food for 'one off events' and you don't use "uncooked eggs in uncooked food" you are okay.  The Environmental Health only have to register and check your kitchen if you are catering as a business.
