hi all
if a chicken takes 12 days to lay 12 eggs and then sits on them do they all hatch on the same day or does it take longer

She wont start sitting until she has her clutch, ie she'll lay then spend rest of the day out every day up until the last but one day when she might sit all day then lay but then wont shift off the nest apart from to poop eat & drink for the next 21 days

 At the most you may have one a day behind the others

Does this mean that a hen is unlikely to go broody if her eggs are removed daily? I have been waiting for mine to start staying in the nest box.

It really all depends on the hen and if she's of a type to go broody

I have tried leaving eggs in the nest and then had a hen go broody, but whether this was down to leaving the eggs in or not I'm really not sure I have 2 now that are broody and I've been removing the eggs so they are sitting diddley squat

If it's my silkie it's 12 eggs then broody, no questions!  About a week after not being broody she starts laying again.
