I'm watching heston Blumenthal. He forages in our front garden most nights.

Keeps setting off the security lights when he lunges for a slug. Must lock the gates.

Staines apparently. :)

They must have migrated to the tropics at some point in the plastocine era (just after dinner).

Or....they were escapees from pet owners/shops and formed into flocks. I know there's a few flocks in the south. Bristol, Bournemouth areas, etc.

I wonder if they'll survive if we have a few winters like this one.

oops! I didnt read it properly - mine don't have the food and water in their house - but they don't sleep in their house! they sleep up a tree - all of them - wierdos!
So their house is always open and they use it for shelter when it rains and if it rains I put their food in there so it doesn't get wet.

We had Macaws that used to fly around our building at work, they used to escape from Gatwick Zoo everyday  but always went home to roost :?   The Zoo has gone now, hope they caught the Macaws before they shut   It has residential homes on the site now

I have relatives in beckenham (south london/kent) and they have huge flocks of wild parakeets down there that fly in from kent everynight to roost together
All these moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.

It's the tropical spiders colonizing that bother me

With a few harsh winters, things may revert slightly but I think they're all here to stay.

It's similar to what happened during the last ice age when we were connected to Europe. Lots of strange beasties becoming native.
