Um I might get shot for this but I used cat mines. You dig a hole and blow up a balloon, place it in the hole and put a thin layer of dirt over it when the cat scratches it explodes (also has major comedy value after a bottle of wine) cat's aren't daft and soon left my veggie plot alone. It's non-toxic and just gives them a little fright

I thought it might work on foxes too and set up a minefield round the hutch. Got bitten by a frazzled rabbit the next morning though

I must definitely try that Parsley!

Our cat loves my flower beds, especially when they are full of new compost.

You will find yourself either staying up all night watching or sniggering to yourself in bed at 3 am lol

Cats always use a neighbours yard so I reckon you just have to let it happen!!

Parsley, I laughed till I cried.     Pity you haven't put it on you tube.

We were plagued by other peoples moggies. Lost count of the times my hands went through fetid cats ........
Boiling hot summer's day (remember those?)  and our senses were assaulted with the smell of hot cat 'ess aitch one tee'
I used to dot newly dug borders with wooden kebab squewers sticking upright which had some effect. Also used pyracantha cuttings laid on the top which also did the trick but it makes the garden look a mess.

Since we topped all our fences with prikka strips the cats keep out of our gardens and plague someone else. Doesn't stop the foxes tho' which is what we did it for. >:(

Not a cheap option tho'.

A cat is officially "an uncontrolable animal" because it cant be tied down or retained like a dog.

no offence then if they are uncrontrolable they should be in a zoo, and not pets.

My neighbour was plagued by cats. He installed a solar powered gadget that emits high frequency when a cat is in renge. No more cats poop in his garden.

I have the same problem. Got myself a sonar cat scared and it works to an extent, but only if there are no obstacles.

That is just brilliant! I couldn't stop laughing and immediately hunted in the 'birthday bits' drawer in the kitchen (where I keep cake candles, paper plates and stuff) to see if I had any balloons.
Then my mind went off at a tangent and thought why not do the same thing (buried balloons) to my OH who thinks he knows best when it comes to planting shrubs. We've got a few that need putting in and I'm trying not to laugh out loud thinking of what will happen.
Thanks again Parsely for the great idea.
I have my own cement mixer and not afraid to use it!!
