Hi everybody,every time I try to grow my cabbages,collies and broccolli from seed,they grow to about an inch then they shrivel up and die.I have them in the greenhouse with the door open when it gets too warm,I have tried moving them outside when its really hot,Ive watered them from above and below,but its always the same,they get to a certain hieght looking really healthy,then one by one they shrivel up,three years I've been trying but always end up buying plants.

Sow them in pots and put them outside or in a cold-frame. It is quite possible that they are simply too warm.

My pots of brassicas are sitting on top of a water butt in the open where I hope the slugs and (especially) the snails fail to notice them. They have germinated without the need for extra heat from a grrenhouse.

They will germinate quite happily in open ground on the allotment but I prefer to keep a close eye on them. It makes watering easier too...they don't need to be swimming in wet compost though.

learner has it absolutley bang on
sow seeds put them in a cold frame every night a spray of water and thats it

in a few days up they come pot into 3 inch pots when  1st true leaves  show its time to  whack  em in the ground and dont forget fill hole filll  the hole with water in they go and it will make em sit up straight away

for brassica never a green house always a cold frame
