hen not laying in nest box

 i have a hen just started to lay it is laying eggs on grass outside rather than in nest box.  there were other eggs in nest box at the time and the hens are restricted to a 50m electric fenced grassy area.

How many nest boxes do you have for x? chicken. Sometimes a low status bird will get pushed out several times till she has to drop the egg outside.

Hello there! 2 of my girlies laid eggs in the run and on the grass when they were getting the hang of laying! I just made sure i put a golf ball in each box (to give them the idea) and they soon got the idea,I had 3 nest boxes for 7 hens too!
