Tomato Huller saves time
« on: October 04, 2011, 10:56 »
Thought I'd share this for anyone who has a tomato glut and wants to freeze them.
I have a strawberry Chef'n StemGem from Lakeland which is brilliant at hulling tomatoes just before popping in the freezer. Beats using a knife. x

Do you have a part number so we can 'ave a shufti' on their website?     Cheers,     Tony.
I may be growing OLD, but I refuse to grow UP !

Glad to be of help. I've used this huller on pounds and pounds of toms. It just makes it really quick before freezing. It's also good on strawberries. x

In the freezer  :tongue2:

They freeze very well, anyway you want to, really.
I freeze sieved tomatoes, made into tomato sauce for pasta, and even cherry toms, just handfuls in a polybag for chucking in winter soups and stews :)

Easy peasy

edit to correct silly spelling

I did the mashing with the back of the ladle through a sieve as I've no more room in my cupboards for another gadget  :D

I have a Tupper of tom sauce defrosting in the fridge for a bolognese and will be making a few more vatfuls shortly  :)
