Nice dull but pleasantly warm day so I got all my onions transplanted. Four 10m rows of  Zebrune, Long red Florence, red Ampotsa and Golden Bear... never use that many but I can always let others have some.

edit
and a thunderstorm with hail the size of marbles arrives and destroys the lot  :(  Well all I can say is that I deliberately planted them an inch below the soil surface so although it looks like a heard of hippos have been wallowing in my garden hopefully when the whole thing dries down we may yet see some onions growing again... they are tough wee B's   :)

Crossed my fingers this afternoon and finally planted some early potatoes in bags. First time trying this method so I am hoping it gives me a slug free crop.

Cheers HH
Keep digging

Planted out summer cabbage, spinach, spring onions and onions, plus weeded for a bit.

Nearly shut the plot robin in the compost bin.  I was just going to put the lid back on when he shot out of there, landed in my plot neighbour's apple tree and proceeded to tell me off

I've slacked off early today after finishing digging the rest of the area for the spuds and planting the last 2 lots out.  I am now the owner of a vast and mighty potato patch and a very achy body ... but it was worth it

Planted four half-rows of main crop potatoes. Pulled out some dandelions.

Made a start on digging over the area's for the spuds. Got a shock while I was down there. As I am usually on my own when I am at the plot, was pleasantly surprised to see new people at the other plots. Seems like some plost have been given back to the council and have been taken up by some enthusiastic people.
The soil was so soft, it's as though it had been dug over every week I have been away.
As I am on 6am-2pm this week, it will be straight to the plot for an hour, weather permitting of course,

Lots & lots. Narrowed out the well rotted manure to the potato bed, ready for hubby to rotovate tomorrow. Put the swoe over all the other beds & left the weeds to dry on the surface, I'll rake them up tomorrow then they can go straight on the bonfire I'm going to have. Hand weeded the onion bed & boy does it look better for it. Dug up the last parsnips & even a few beetroot that seem ok, well at least enough for some chutney. Rehomed some strawberries to another part of the plot. Swept up & had. a couple of sit downs & 2 cuppas, nit bad for a 6 hour stint

Put last few new spuds into a bed. Planted beetroot seedlings into another bed and covered with cloche.

Too much to mention over the last 3 days but generally -
Rotavated the whole plot planted the potatoes, planted a new pear tree and sowed my tomato, pepper, corgette and pumpkin seeds.
You can read in more detail in my diary page, the link for it is in my signiture, also please feel free to comment.

I've put mine on the windowsill of the dinning room. Its on a sandwich tray so the sills will remain dry.
