Pakoras with a suace to dip them in made from whizzed up coriander, chillie and garlic
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

A girl at my farmer's market does seasonal pakora. A brussel sprout pakora sounds like it should be totally bizarre but it's pretty bloomin' special!  :D

I have been officially persuaded now.  They are now sown in pots  :)

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Also nice eaten raw straight from the plant when they are about 2-3 inches long.  Lovely and crispy!  Just ask the dog! Penny follows me around when I'm harvesting stuff.  she loves most of it!   :D :D

Courgette and basil soup is surprisingly good.  I was a bit sceptical before I had a go.

Saute diced courgette with basil and garlic, add vegetable stock and cook for about ten minutes, blitz and season to taste   :)

Interesting.  I have tonnes of basil - always seem to grow way too much.  Will definitely try that.

I LOVE courgette fritters!  Here's my basic recipe:

1 courgette (about a pound), shredded
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg
1 clove of garlic, crushed
enough milk to make it batter-like, but not too watery

drop spoonfuls into hot fat until golden brown.

serve with home-made mayonnaise for dipping

If you're really lucky and have the flowers too, you can make a really yummy fancy dish by cooking a chopped onion, a chopped courgette, and a clove or two of garlic in a skillet until the courgette is nice and soft.  Remove it from the heat and add some shredded cheese if you've got it.   Then put a spoonful in each flower and use a toothpick to hold the petals together.  Dip in a simple batter (flour, egg, milk or beer, a bit of salt) and fry the same way.  These are delicious and great party food!

Don't forget Val's courgette chutney. Very nice with cold meat!
