I've got one from two plants.  Have had lots of flowers.  Was a little late putting them in.  The one I have is about 6" long.

Rained long enough for me to say to the dog erghh what was that, oh its raining, then it stopped. Two mins worth if that of little drops.

I hate to upset anyone but Sussex by the sea is the place to be for sun.... butternuts seem to like it loads.

My first haul home in the cycle trailer..... mixed results though - some tiddlers but better than a no show  ;)

Must be the area LOL.  Have you been to Slindon the pumpkin king lives there.  Apparently he puts a picture display on his roof each year.  We went a week ago and he has loads and I mean loads in his yard.  Had to stop the mother in law nicking some, quote he's got so many he won't miss a few,  managed to steer her away only to find sister in law had nicked a pear of someones tree.  Bl**dy londeners (thats a joke by the way, the Londoners not the nicking, so don't go butternutty I was one myself).

Have a look its amazing

Mine was Hunter.

Don't think it's the strain but more about preparation and the weather.

For all my squashes I followed John's advice and dug planting holes filled with compost, rotted manure with plastic guttering dug so that water goes straight to the roots.

It's been good fun growing squashes and gourds and recommend it.

Success with 'Hunter' plus anything else I had around (packs of old seed from last year and the one before) -a mixture - some trailing and some bush.
The only ones on the slow side to produce are a couple of trailers climbing up the back of my shed - they were late going in and receive a bit less sun that the rest of the plot. I'm leaving them in place - they'll make fruit if it's warm enough between now and first frosts.

I'd given up on my two plants....all male flowers and only 2 females, one has set I think but the other dropped off! Now masses of female flowers and as there's still a few male flowers I might get some fruit! Hope they ripen in the next few weeks! Think I got them in a bit late although packet said June seed planting was ok. Now just hope the mildew doesn't kill them......

Don't over water - maybe a slosh of liquid tomato feed might help to boost them on their way speedily?  ;) [If some of the fruit has set & then avoiding the leaves]

I read somewhere that a spray of bicarbonate solution can help reduce mildew on corgettes - not tried it though...

I noticed I have about six on my plant but only small, biggest is 3", I thought it was too late and was going to clear it away this weekend but is it worth leaving till the first frost or am I wasting my time.

I personally think it's a little late for them to do much, but am living in eternal hope that those on my plant which are that size, will suddenly sprout bigger before the first frosts!
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

I'VE GOT ONE!!!

It's about three inches long and proves it's not an all male plant at least :D

Bit late to ripen methinks
