[Allotment Jon]

I have recently been given 3 raspberry plants. 2 off 1 stalk each from local pound shop and another one with 6 stalks taped together in a pot of compost .

My question is regarding the 6 stalk plant. It says an the instructions to remove plant from pot without disturbing the root ball. Do I treat the 6 stalks as one plant or do I have to separate them.

I am only growing for wine making purposes and it states on the instructions the you have to leave 6 ft between plants. If I stuck to this it would probably fill my Allotment.

Please can someone offer advice.

When you empty pot with 6 canes in.....is it six different canes each with its
own root or six canes shooting from 1 root?
Then you will know if you have six plants or 1 big one to plant up

Put them in a bucket of water, leave them for a bit then try and gently pull the 6 apart.  If they come apart, you have 6 plants, if they dont, you dont.
I think the canes are planted 1ft apart in rows, with each row being 6ft from the others.
