Hi all,

So my runner ducks will be 7 weeks and 6 weeks this week.

I gave them free roam of the garden yesterday, which went really well. The chickens and them met and all was fine. (Guess they've had all that time seeing each other with a fence between them)

But I was wondering what age do you think I can leave the ducks free roaming without me about? I'm out at work during the day Mon-Fri so not about to keep an eye on them.

Where do you live? Buzzards and the like may be an issue. Depending on their size so could crows, magpies, sparrow hawks. They are still a little young to be ruuning free without a Mom. I used to leave mine in a covered run until they were bigger.

We have lots of red kites around. I think for a few more weeks they can remain in the coop + run whilst I'm at work and let them have a run when I'm back in the evening and over the weekends.

Bless them tho, each morning they look out at the garden wondering why they have the run still up! Think they have enjoyed their taste of freedom. haha

Best to be safe and keep them in the run for a little while longer
