It depends where your veg patch is and whether you can keep them safely there I should think.

Can't think of any other reason why not. :)

Of course you can, just depends on how much veg you want!

They are fine with established plants as they dig up or trample seedlings and they eat tender plants like lettuce, salads, peas, pumpkins, courgettes etc.

I have to say that I keep them out of the veg during the growing season and let them in once most of the harvest is done to weed out the last of the slugs (not that I see many since the advent of the ducks) and to fertilize for next year0.
Be like a duck. Calm on the surface but always paddling like the dickens underneath.

Ducks love all things growing!!!  Mine went on yesterday quite by mistake (i wasn't watching closely  ). the little carrots have been devoured the lettuce died and unfortunately the sprouts copped it again . The sprouts didn't stand a chance for the second time in as many weeks!!  My advice is and I'm only a newbee keep them off if you want anything left to eat    Wait until it is cleared and then let them clear the ground.Hope that helps :?

To be fair, mine don't bother the brassicas much and the sprouts are doing well. Beans survived without protection as did the rhubarb (once the forcer removed). Herbs (especially oragan, marjoram and basil) got a bit munched but the rosemary copes ok (I know, I have self seasoning ducks).
