Easy plant and delicious quickly fried in butter with garlic, yum. My silver chard was untouched all winter by frosts, not sure about the hardiness of the ruby one though.

I have actually included a few in my garden borders - fabulous broad leaves of colour contrasting with "frothier"  specimens - brilliant!

I grew some ruby chard last year in the hope it would go to seed in summer as I think it looks great. But no, it didn't and survived the winter with no protection and no die-back. It's finally gone to seed this week, so I'm happy.

It tastes of nothing though :tongue2:

I also love it as I don't need to net it like I do with kale

Chard is also pretty impervious to pests. I've given up with kale because it gets smothered with whitefly which can't be washed off.

I have some ready to go in the ground, maybe tomorrow.
It is entered into my diary as a reminder to do some for winter. Do you plant straight into the ground in the greenhouse Sept/Oct?

Mine died after a gentle frost last year.
