I've had youngster plants in 3inch pots flower and i just plant them and pick off the flowers usually. That's so they can put their energy in the first year into storing sugars in their roots for producing a bumper crop the next year.
Having said that I just potted on some flowering runners from my Cambridge Vigour (container gardening) and I'm going to try just leaving the flowers this year. They had a massive amount of big hungry roots so I think they'll have no problems taking up nutrients for their few flowers/fruits in this first year.
wistfully hoping to one day be mostly organic gardener in North London.

Florence is a good late variety I believe. I grow Maxim and Bolero myself and they are only just coming into flower.

When I say, I believe Florence is a good late variety, its been recommended to me but I haven't tasted it. The variety Bolero is quite late really, its an everbearer, and very sweet, but the berries aren't huge. Maxim has big berries, and the flavour is quite good too.

i put my courgettes on my plot a  couple of days ago because they were getting far to big for the windowsill. i also made a coldframe for my tobacco because thats getting big to. my strawberrys are flowering well but i only planted them a couple of weeks ago so i think i will try taking the flowers off as Heather S suggests.

Just planted 4 more seeds as a back up plan, just in case the other courgettes don't come up.

I'v dug out one of the originaly planted seeds just to check if it has started to germinate, its exactly as i planted it no change.  :o

I'v got them in a heated propergator, I don't know what i'm doing wrong. :?

re courgettes you could try planting seeds on their sides i had to replant 3 times last year and my 1st lot this year haven't germinated either!! annoying isn't it. they don't take long to germinate when they work so after a coupke of weeks of no show you should re sow
