Mine will be third generation from the Really Garlicky company.

Sounds like a ploy to get you to buy theirs, you can't be the best garlic grower unless you do!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Agree. This implies that their garlic is the best.  :nowink:

Our garlic came from Wilkos, and for £4.00, I got 69 individual pieces...

It's a good idea and if it cost less than the £15 (inc p+p) for 4 bulbs of garlic I'd be up for it.  The Really Garlicky company is far more reasonanble at 80p for a bulb   Thanks DD, I'll be using them too!

Edit: fixed price quote

You wouldn't really expect them to run a compo for the opposition - now, would you ?

Bought my garlic from them this year.  Paid a fortune for postage (half the price of the Garlic) but can't take part in the compo as I amn't in the UK!!  Will be saving my garlic next year.

We are on a mission to find the best amateur garlic grower in the UK.

OK so far.

Entries will only be counted if the garlic is of the Solent Wight variety

Well, that's precluded a lot from their mission, how can you find the best garlic grower from a restricted field?

Wonder if sales of garlic have dropped off.
Bought some of IoW garlic in the past and I think that that the harvested bulbs were smaller then the planted cloves. :D

I agree to a point but if it was open to all varieties it would make juding very difficult.

Also although it is a marketing ploy it is a good one that may motivate a few people to grow who otherwise would not and be a bit of fun for those that already grow garlic.

I sent an email asking if it was possible to enter using Solent Wight garlic harvested from the year before. And I received a prompt email back which is as follows;

"Hi Darron

Yes, of course, you can use the previous year's Solent Wight but you may not get the biggest and best results!

If at first you don't succeed, try a different method.

I've got mine already. :D I had to buy more this year as I didn't buy enough last year to have some to save and not eat. ::)

You might be as quick visiting them and losing the postage cost from where you are Daamoot.

Good call arugula, I didn't even notice the address while looking at their website but I have a meeting in Elgin next week so I could easily pop over to Nairn.  Well spotted!
