Saving Padron Pepper seeds

Hi, Has anyone any experience of saving Padron pepper seeds?

They are not F1's but any search which I have looked at says to wait 'til the peppers turn red. I have never had any red ones. Perhaps I have always harvested before this stage. Any tips would be welcome. I suspect it may be quite hard which would explain why you only get a few seeds in a packet.

If anyone has not grown them before, I would highly recommend. Good yield (much better than my Gypsy f1 hybrids). Difficult to find in grocers over here and a lovely nibble when fried and sea salt added. The plant need lots of time to get established however, if grown from seed.

Saving them should be easy. Just remove and dry them off on kitchen paper. I wouldn't recommend the steamy kitchen or bathroom. On a bright window ledge or on the mantelpiece, out of the way of kids and pets would be best.  Once fully dry, they should peel away easily from the kitchen paper, then put them in a sealed packet and keep in a cool place til you're ready to sow them

As pepper seeds are not held in gel like tomatoes, I just leave them on a saucer for a few weeks then store in an envelope til you need them  ;)

Padron chili's will eventually turn red, but they are a slow turner in my experience.

Only grew them once, but had some red one's.

As you state, most commonly picked green & pan fried, Padron often refered to as the "Tapas Pepper"
