Hi everyone - just went down to the plot after a few days absence and horror of horrors my courgette leaves are turning black.  This has happened just since Thursday -they had been fine up until then. Weather has turned cold of late - although don't think we've actually had any frost here yet. Is this the problem? Should I cut off the damaged leaves and see what happens? will this affect the plant? How long should I expect the plants to go on for? Haven't grown courgettes (or should I say marrows?) before ...

Looks like frost damage to me.

You don't need temperatures of below zero for frost damage - a few degrees above zero will do the trick 

I can't see the leaves recovering so yes, chop them off.  If there are no leaves left then I'd pull the plant up.

thanks Yorkie. There are other green leaves, so will do as you suggest and see if they survive a little longer.
