Garlic for the frozen north

I am looking to plant garlic this month i live in the north of scotland.
Can anyone give me advice on which varieties to go for with our colder temps.

Hi,

I have managed to plant supermarket garlic and it has grown fine, although quite small.

I will be buying from the Isle of Wight Garlic Farm this year - I have heard that it has worked for people up in Shetland - see http://www.thegarlicfarm.co.uk/

Garlic likes cold temperatures. It's very hardy. I think you should be more concerned about getting the soil right (well-drained so they don't rot over winter) than varieties. Garlic needs a good cold snap/frost or two to tell it to make individual cloves.

Thanks to you both i will just buy the ones i like the sound of and give then a try.
I have rich well drained soil and i dont think the cold spell will be a problem.
